Why do we never see the DLC maps?

Reach has a really great multiplayer and a surprisingly durable population so far. So why is it that we never see the beautiful maps that were made free not too long ago (6 years ago?)?

They need to make dlc dedicated playlists.

What I think they should do is make it mandatory to download DLC, so that everyone will have it. I mean, it’s free; isn’t this a great idea? Out with a few forge maps, in with the gorgeous DLC maps. Seriously.

I believe the last map pack became free in the fall around the time when all remaining Halo games became backwards compatible.

But yeah, they need to make the DLC maps mandatory. The reason you don’t see any is because a good portion of players, if not most, are unaware the maps are all free. If even one player in a lobby does not have a certain map pack, none of the maps from that pack are eligible for the match.

This is what I assume is the case, considering I’ve literally never seen them before. I also think that this would be fairly easily implemented as far as things go for Reach-- just throw up a condition for the playlists that says “users must have downloaded content” instead of “users do not have recommended content.” Is there a way to contact 343 about this? Do they browse these forums?

I think the best way to do that is to try and get ske7ch to read your comments on Reddit or Twitter.

They have in past, a few times, the issue is playlist popularity. Not enough people were populating the playlist to justify keeping it in rotation so it had to be removed to make way for others. DLC maps are in the current playlists, but you need a lobby full of all players with DLC to play them. While requiring DLC maps could be a solution, not everyone wants to download, has the space to download or the bandwidth to download

ikr why is it the same maps and none of the DLC

I think many people just don’t know how to find the Reach DLC in the Xbox One Store, so they don’t bother. I wonder if 343 still has the tools to edit that boot up message that shows up every time we start Reach. They could use that to let people know that the DLC is free and how to find it.

Because 343 never announced it anywhere besides waypoint. I said it in another thread, but 343 should update one of the welcome screens to tell everyone the DLC is, and has been free for years at this point.

DLC playlist makes no sense, just make everyone download it, it’s free.

Exactly, it can’t be that complicated. @ske7ch if you’re around, what do you think?

I didnt know it was Free to be fair until reading this Thread, will Download when I’m Home, like you say they should tell everyone or make them Download it before you can play, some of the Maps are Gorgeous, Living Dead is Boring now as its the same Maps over and over so would be nice to have some DLC maps.

Side note, very impressed with the population, Searched some Invasion Thursday evening and went off to make some Coffee thinking it would take a long time to find a Game I get back and the Game is just starting!

Apparently, like Spartan-II’s, Halo: Reach never dies!
