When I played H2 MM and H3 was coming out, you know what I wanted?
Continuation of the story
Plasma pistol and sword nerf
Improvements to cheating detection and netcoding/MM functionality
Better graphics
New maps
Couple new weapons
That’s pretty much it. Halo 2 was already -Yoinking!- amazing. I just wanted them to polish it and continue the story.
But no.
They had to change things just for the sake of change. Now we are what…6 years and 2 games later and the franchise has stagnated. Why? Because instead of polishing and refining this gem until it was so amazing the very sight of it blew your mind, they had to make changes. These changes never worked and the game never improved. They simply replaced old problems with new ones.
Now we are seeing it again. Instead of just fixing reach’s errors and polishing the game they’re adding a whole bunch of new crap that will undoubtedly cause new issues.
H4 was the PERFECT time to hit the reset button and just go back to the core and fine tune. But no.
343 needs to look at Halo COMBAT EVOLVED and really take note of what it did. All it did was take a look at other FPS games and just took the core, simplified everything and polished it to -Yoink-.
> I want a Halo 4 that keeps true to the original formula, while at the same time adds new features that reinforce the formula. There is no reason to abandon the formula that made and has kept Halo succesful, it’d be irrational. That’s why every change made should cooperate with the formula, guaranteeing gameplay that feels fresh while at the same time feeling like a true Halo game.
I don’t want to play Halo again… and again… and again… and again… and… well you see where I am going.
Why don’t you like a game that you have not played yet? TA Shabooty I am official dubbing you a man who is a dinosaur… you probably don’t like Windows 7 either. Windows Vista was probably fine in your mind.
As an artist and designer myself I can speak for anything and say “there is always room for improvement, and change.”
So stop whining and go play some Halo. Really I mean it, if it makes you feel better you and I could go play anniversary edition. I just want the arguing to stop.

Sorry for not being sorry but the community needs to move on. The Halo 1-3 days were awesome but all good things must come to an end. It’s time for change. The awesome thing is, it won’t be drastic change. Custom games will be very customizable.

Maybe that’ll knock some sense into the community
I understand your positions on the game just please give it a chance.
Anything they do wrong in this they could fix (or make worse) in Halo 5.
Flame 343i after the game comes out at least…

We judge it before it comes out because THAT’S HOW IT WORKS. If you don’t like what you hear about a game you usually don’t just go out and buy it to see if you’ll like it. Like I myself am not a very big dungeon crawler fan. Diablo 3 is a dungeon crawler. Therefore, I am not going to buy Diablo 3, and that is without seeing a single gameplay vid on it. Same goes for modern shooters and puzzle games.
Halo could have easily evolved without directly alienating the fanbase. I wish people would be able to see this.

Actually, I would say the opposite. Flame prior with the hopes that the final product is better, then keep an open mind once the game is released and develop your opinion from there.

You don’t fix somthing that isn’t broken. Halo 2/3 wasn’t broken. Halo reach was.
this is so true…i remember the days of old school gaming when you could actually get excited about a new game coming out and not have to worry about disapointment because it will be the same game with new levels/maps/weapons

Ok so you want NO FORGE, NO SPEED CUSTOMIZATION, NO INVASION, NO FIREFIGHT, NO ARMORY, and NO GOING IN SPACE. Are you mad man???

Yes but flaming prior to a release will make another Mass Effect 3, a fantastic game by all standards but people got hyped and flamed bioware so bad that they overlooked how good the game was due to someone with a end of the game idea that wasn’t the best.
Wow. While I agree with you, never post that image again. I would rather staple my eyes open and play team slayer in Reach than attempt to read that terrible grammar.
