Why do we live in such a state of Regression In video games?

ALL of the progress made for the better in the MCC and in Halo Reach in terms of Progression and yet, Regressed in Halo Infinite with their Progression System. There is no reason for this colossal failure of a system. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

You have to look at it logically, why would 343 do such drastic changes? (yet again, even though historically they have failed nearly every time they drastically change anything)

It’s all because of the new system they wanted. They have it designed around microtransactions and not around the gameplay. Everything is enveloped around the new model to maximize profits on cosmetics, bundles, swaps, or boosts.

They can’t have more than one progress meter because anything extra will distract players. The events are meant to add extra progressive stuff, but they are just as lackluster as the BattlePass and they are mainly designed to draw in more sales for cosmetics related to the Events.

old system was broke for their shareholders. it dont make money past the initial buy, which aint good enough for stock market leeches anymore.

The reason is money. That’s the only reason there is.

You can still make money and still not regress into systems opposite of that of the MCC and Halo Reach. There is no excuse to regress for the sake of money. Money is made through Progress.

We just need more regulation that restricts short term investments. If shareholders were locked in like a 1/5/10 year contract then we would see less immediate profit forces creeping into everything.

Unless there are some significant changes to improve things in this game, I don’t see myself really playing the game that much. It’s like what they did to Reach in MCC. 343 “fixed” some things when there was literally nothing wrong with Reach at all. In the process of them doing what they did, they screwed Reach up big time.

The problem with this game is that it’s not about what we would like to see, it’s about what they want and 343 actions show they really don’t care what anyone wants.

IMO Halo has been ruined because of 343/Microsoft mainly because they refuse to work with what has worked in the past for Halo and they have shown they are more concerned about milking the player base vs creating a decent quality type of game to where players would be more willing to support them.

Casual gamers - and how to protect their fragile egos.
Developers that only care about how to exploit the players’ wallets, and not making a game that can be played for years to come.

Indie developers are 100% the best these days because they make their game based on their ability to learn how to make games, and their drive to complete it.

economics isnt quite so simple as changing one element unfortunately. it also isnt helping that most of the time the idiots in power in the US are basically only tuned in to the words of wall street shareholders. public shares are the greatest evil of the united states.

So gaming is dead basically

mmm dead may be a bit of a overdramatization. there are games which I think personally truly have been amazing games. its just that AAA games are less so the markers of what good games are. once upon a time a game from a AAA dev would be everywhere, and their games would be considered beautiful works of art. now they are usually just cash grabs in one way or another. movies are the same way I think. most of the best games of recent memory for me have been from indie developers.
