She is basically the comedy relief to replace Johnson, and is really poorly executed.
I didn’t really like her in Halo 4, for reasons listed above, but I’ve sort of warmed to her in Halo 5, especially after reading new blood, she ain’t that bad. Not the best character in the series but she’s got a lot of potential to be a memorable character, presuming if 343I don’t kill her off straight away in Halo 6… They just need to work on her personality a bit more and make her have some more bada$$ moments in the campaign, like when she got osiris onto that guardian, that was pretty awesome, she needs more moments like that to redeem herself from Halo 4

In all seriousness, I think Palmer is just not a very good character, especially in Halo 4/Spartan Ops. She was unlikable, annoying and far from what you would expect from the commander of the Spartan-IVs. She was short-tempered and overall rude. While characters require flaws, she had no good side, from what I could tell. That being said, she’s much better in Halo 5 (despite being very annoying in Warzone), and could even become a good character if they write her correctly.

Buck doesnt have a commanding role like Johnson did. Buck is too involved in the gameplay to be a real johnson replacement too. Johnson would help you out for a bit, then leave or just deliver something to you. Palmer has the opposite issue, she’s never around and you’d be fine without her, except for the cutscene when she flies the pelican to the guardian.

There isn’t a particular reason that I’ve found that people hate her. They seem to hate her without cause. The ‘you can still destroy the enemy core’ dialogue feels like it is a bit mocking, but that isn’t an issue with the character, it was just poorly implemented in warzone. Personally, I think she has potential for growth. What is really weird is I see people defending Halsey on occasion.

Because she dared crack a joke with Chief about his height (which was a reference to Marine dialogue that was similar) that people got offended on his behalf over. Oh no doubt she wasn’t a well-written character before, but the levels of hatred thrown her way is ridiculous.

Wow. How did you come to that conclusion? I mean, she doesent provide any comic relief at all, not badly exexuted stuff, nothing =| I mean, you can say some “jokes” we’re supposed to be funny but it just didn’t work out that way at all.
It’s how they portrayed her in Halo 4 and Spartan Ops. Obnoxious, condescending, and frankly dull in comparison to the other people who gave you orders and objectives.
I lost count of how many times she refers to scientists as “Eggheads”, she must have been a chicken farmer or something! thankfully she had better writers for her in the Dark Horse Comics so she became much more toleratable.
