I doubt 343 will bother looking at my post, but I just want to point out how -Yoinked!- it is that if the game kicks you to the menu, you will be credited with a loss and your CSR will drop. I wanted to make this post yesterday, but I held off because I didn’t want to complain. But then this happened the very next game, so I’m complaining. It’s difficult enough to win a game when searching alone and matching against onyx/champs, but we also have disconnecting as a factor.
But it’s ok, I’m sure they’re working on some new warthog variants for warzone, so that makes up for the game being ruined by their own negligence.
I think the biggest reason why you are punished is that the game can’t distinguish if you are quitting intentionally or not. If it didn’t punish you when you were disconnected from the server people could abuse it by unplugging their router when they are losing, and then not being punished at all.

When I get disconnected in warzone, I keep whatever RP boost I had on. When I quit, it gets taken away. The game definitely recognizes the difference between a disconnection and a quit.
And I’ve always thought to myself that that is the reason, but resorting to just giving everyone a loss is -Yoink-.

I’m pretty sure if you unplug your router you won’t lose that boost. Boom you have just exploited how the system works, and that’s why they have to keep punishments for all types of quits including disconnections.
Instead of admonishing the OP about how the system “could” be abused, why not fix the damn servers that have had the exact same problems for almost a year now? Then maybe players wouldn’t have to come here so frequently with these issues

Well said.
343i needs to fix their server issues. I haven’t played Halo 5 in some time but I’ve seen enough threads and complaints to not want to run into connection issues. I’ve already been banned once and have several DNFs somewhere on my record because of DCs.

It’s seems like unplugging a router is a possibility, but seems far to extreme for someone who wants to get away from a bad match.
Honestly you can’t stop people from quiting, I would say just remove the bans all together. However, in competitive game modes I think they should stay. Do you get banned for social quits? Every time I ask I get a different answer.

That’s dumb. I mean, really dumb. Especially warzone, that should be a drop in drop out gamemode were you shouldn’t worry about that.
I guess this just goes to show that halo 5 dosn’t really cater to the social crowed…

All you have to do is reset the router or remove the Ethernet cable. Or just go to settings and hit “Go offline”. It’s like 5 seconds of inconvenience.
If you saw MCC, that matchmaking was completely abused because there were no bans. If you saw someone you didn’t want to face or had a high rank or didn’t like the map, just go to party chat and Quit Multiplayer. Boom, left the game with no problem.
If matchmaking can be abused, it will absolutely be abused.

True, you know, honestly the only fix to this is for 343 to make a game that dosn’t make people want to quit.
What that game would be is up to be decided. And no it’s not halo 5, for example socials will quit competitive playlist, and sometimes unknowingly so. most of the time they dont even know its ranked to begin with.
Sounds funny I know, but I somehow always played ranked in halo 3 and didn’t have the foggiest clue it was a competetive game mode until recently. I just didn’t get what it ment and thought it was just a game mode, I’m sure there are others out there who thought and think the same way.

Well that’s straight up impossible. If people decide to quit, they’re gonna quit. It doesn’t even have to be about the game itself.
The best you’ll get is to remove the quit button from games and trap them there, but they’ll really just dashboard one way or another.

It’s difficult, but not impossible. Makeing a game that caters to everyone in some way shape or form can be done, it just means 343 is going to really have to dig deep into what everyone wants.

u get different disconnect messages if u intentionally disconnect your router as compared to losing connection. this clearly shows that the game can detect the difference.
343 was just lazy and is still being lazy to correct their mistakes.
