Why do UNSC have so much anti infantry during T1?

Title says it all. Everyone knows the early game revolves heavily around infantry; especially when it comes to heroes. In this regard, Banished are at a unique disadvantage because they don’t have any effective anti infantry during T1. UNSC have the newly buffed marines, flamethrowers, and the newly priced snipers.

How are banished suppose to effectively counter sniper, buffed marines, and flamethrowers early game?

It’s kind of a joke. The only viable options I can think of T1 are engineers + skitterers/ choppers and engineers. But even then, the newly buffed marines can wreck choppers. Of course we have suicide grunts which will never get close to the enemy army if they have snipers and jet pack brutes that can get close to the army but if they have flame/cryo troopers they’re deader than dead.

To fix this, I think swapping suicide grunts and elite ranger would be a good choice.
Either that or just make JP brutes, suicide grunts, and Rangers all T1.
Or make snipers T2 just like how Rangers are T2.

Thoughts?

Suicides

Atriox’s chosen with an army of grunts and 2-3 engi’s works well for me. I used to use that strategy to do rushes only to have failed too many times, but when it comes to using them to deter early rushes, it comes in handy. As shipmaster, teleporting grunts to the snipers position is a good idea, and as Decimus, the only thing I can think of is using vortex to clear the flamers.

Snipers are way too OP to be T1, that much is for sure.

A new patch came out a couple days ago. This is no longer a viable strategy.

I think these buffs to marines and flamers should be reverted. I’m not against the Flamer speed buff, but that’s about it.

If the triangle needs help in the infantry > air department then buff that interaction alone.

Bummer, I always used Atriox’s chosen against the anti-infantry. So a UNSC player can rush, but a Banished one can’t? So much bias.

No, just no. Choppers, Ghosts and Jackrabbits are some of the worst units T1 they do not transition into T2 and received nerfs.

Choppers:

  • Splash radii on Shrapnel Rounds reduced -60%/-25% - Ram damage bonuses reduced (-28%) against core infantry to compensate for greatly increased efficiencyJackrabbits:
  • DPS increase after researching Spotter Drone reduced -43% - Acceleration reduced -29% - Self-healing rate reduced -33%Ghost:
  • Ram damage bonuses reduced (-28%) against core infantry to compensate for greatly increased efficiencyI literally had 10 jackrabbits circling 5 un-upgraded marines and still got destroyed. And spending 450 for a worst shrapnel rounds is catastrophic.

I know that they don’t beat marines anymore. Just meant against snipers.

Suicides also though. Work well against snipers, as long as you have the numbers to push with.

Well that’s the thing. I don’t think anyone’s using JUST snipers, they will most certainly have marines, so it’s not feasible to counter them with choppers when you’re risking so much to kill an unit that can’t damage buildings.

Right.
I’m not debating that marines aren’t too much right now. I honestly haven’t played many 1s since the update. So, I’m just thinking through strats, based on how things play in teams at least. That’s what I’ve played the most of this weekend.

Suicides, as I’ve found, still work well against mass marines. If they’ve got snipers, send in the suicides, then micro the chops to ram the snipers.
That’s the best I can think of, as the OP seems to be asking for what Banished can do in the early game.

Soooeeesides

Season 5 & 6 not as much fun. Agree:+1:t2::+1:t2:

Has anyone tried jump brutes? Use the ability on the snipers? I don’t know just throwing out ideas…

In regard to a solution, elite rangers should be T1…snipers are much better than them to begin with so I don’t see why not

Either that or make Sniper T2

Obviously the answer to snipes are scouts since snipers can’t only target infantry
