I was reading an article about Halo: Spartan Assault on Halopedia, since it came out recently, and one thing I noticed it said was that there were Jiralhanae and Yanme’e forces present during the battle this game takes place in, the Battle of Draetheus V. Now I’m confused as to why these species are present during this fight. If Halo: Spartan Assault takes place before Halo 4, and in the latter game, the species were not present at all during the First and Second Battles of Requiem, what happened to these two species? Did they defect from the Covenant remnant? Did they not agree with the motives that the Covenant remnant held? Were they all eradicated before the First Battle of Requiem?
Unfortunately SA has virtually no strong story or back info so we still have no knowledge of the brutes.

Because of time and budget, using that logic why arent skirmishers, drones, brutes and engineers in halo CE
Ok to explain I will say what could of happened in Halo 4.
Drones could be in a similar role they had before, repairing stuff. This is evident as the Drones were called scavenging Drones in Spartan Assault hinting they were recovering stuff to make stuff for them. We never do enter a Covie ship in Halo 4.
Not all Brutes left the sides of the Elites. Some stayed even though they would be treated like slaves. Maybe Jul found other uses for them or simply didnt accept them back.

Jeez, after the Great Schism and rebellion on Sanghelios, what the -Yoink- do the Brutes have to do before the Elites think, “Hmm, maybe it isn’t so smart to keep these guys around?”

Turn into humans.

There is a reason the Brutes that stayed were treated like Slaves.

And then they rebelled…and yet humans were still blamed for that.
People seem to forget that a large portion of Jul’s forces are religious fanatics who actually view him as a prophet of their living god.
Remember all the forces that stayed behind and refused to abandon Requiem despite the fact that it was headed into the sun? They weren’t there for their health.
Brutes were fairly into the whole religion aspect of the Covenant. Stands to reason that packs would be loyal to someone that seems to be anointed by god. Especially if it brings recompense upon the race of vermin that shattered the previous empire.

So how come Jul didn’t have any Brute forces on Requiem? I can buy SOME, a small minority at that, Brutes would stick with the Elites, but the Great Schism happened for a variety of reasons and one of those reasons was the animosity between the Elites and Brutes. It seems as though that is just a mere footnote in the lore now. I mean, you are right Jul is seen as a prophet in his own right, but I doubt he has enough sway to just make the feud between the two species just vanish.
I think people are ignoring the real issue here, there is a Hunter on the cover of the game, but there are none in the actual game…

Oh wow, good eyes there. never noticed that until now xD
THIS COVENANT WAS NOT THE STORM COVENANT ENCOUNTERED IN HALO 4.
That being said, I don’t agree with the whole Brute and Elite working together again. It doesn’t make any sense at all.
I’m sure SOME would stay loyal, but, if they hate each other so much, why are they being kept on the Elite homeworld? Seriously. Something’s bound to happen.
I just hope that we see the Elites and Brutes fighting again and not pairing up only to get betrayed again…and again…and again.
I don’t think its so unbelievable that Elites and Brutes would be willing to work together. Sure, there’s a lot of tension and hatred between the species, but you can’t expect every single member of both races to hate the other race. I’m sure there have been friendships and alliances between Sangheili and Jiralhanae; to say otherwise would be to imply that they’re either a hive mind or one-dimension, which is something that the Halo story avoids (though this is debatable among more recent Halo media).

So how come the blind, hive-mind hatred of humanity doesn’t make that so?

There isn’t a blind, hive mind hatred of humanity. Traviss only portrayed Elites with those opinions and beliefs, she did a terrible job at portraying the other side.
I’m sure you of all people know this.
