I’m talking about the newer set of the Defiant achievements. These are probably the most situational and ridiculous achievements ever created EVER. I made it a personal mission to get all the achievements in each Halo game, and I have (except for Halo Wars), but now, I don’t even care anymore about maxing out Reach.
“Don’t Touch That” was okay. In fact, I didn’t even do it correctly and it worked. But “All Alone” and “Paper Beats Rock” are just ridiculous.
<mark>The problem with these achievements is that you can only get them on Defiant maps.</mark> And since there are only 2 maps and there isn’t a Defiant playlist anymore, it makes getting these achievements pretty much impossible.
To get “All Alone”, you have to get an Infection match with everyone having the Defiant DLC and end up picking Condemned (the only Defiant map in Infection). Then you have to be lucky enough to get Last Man Standing.
For “Paper Beats Rock”, it’s all but impossible without boosting. I don’t think I’ve ever assassinated someone after they exit armor lock since they have a 360 degree view. And of course, ontop of that you need to get a Defiant map.

I used to use this argument in the past, but the achievements are for doing the actual requirements, it shouldn’t be an achievement to find the map in the first place.
I have to say that I agree with you here. Bungie had it right with the DLC achievements as they could be got on any map not just on a certain map pack. I honestly think those last two achievements are slightly silly, especially now with the removal of Squad DLC. The way I see it is that if an achievement requires specific DLC then there should be playlists in order to play just those maps. The all alone achievement is by far the worst. The chances of finding a lobby full of defiant DLC owners is hard enough, then you have to hope the map appears and is selected. At the very least the playlists should require the DLC to play ala Halo 3. I spent good money on the DLC but very rarely get to play them outside of customs.
Yeah. I thought that the system Bungie was implementing before, allowing people to play regardless of whether they had the DLC or not, and pairing DLC players and weighting DLC maps higher would be a good way to maximize player Matchmamking while also allowing DLC players to get their worth, but Noble and Defiant owners really got the shaft. Even if you paid for the DLC, a good majority of Halo players haven’t already because they heard about how the DLC almost never gets played or because they’re content with the vanilla Reach maps, so you almost never get to play on the DLC. I have several Halo Reach friends, and none of them have this -Yoink!- DLC.
I honestly hope they go back to Halo 3’s system. Yes, it forces you to buy some of the DLC in order to get the full experience, but at least the people who buy said DLC are getting the money’s worth. At least they haven’t gotten rid of the Anniversary Playlists O WAIT…
Getting a little off-topic, but yeah, getting to play the DLC is pretty uncommon now. I think they really messed up the Anniversary playlists with “Classic” being the only option and removing Ann. Big Team. Now you’re forced to play with the overpowered pistol and there’s no way to play Breakneck or Ridgeline.
Theres a new post everyday complaining about these. You’re going to have to boost or suck it up, if 343i cared about what we have to say - they would have added a playlist(s) to make it easier to get these by now.
I don’t know what people are complaining about. I got these achievements easy. Heck, I even had condemned show up in infection yesterday. The idiots in the lobby didn’t even vote for it, and I checked and none of them even had it, and I was the only one who voted for it!
How about an answer from 343. Anyone there care to let us know how to get these maps to show up to we can attempt to get the achievements. I have just the all alone left to get and the defiant maps just never come up. I don’t have 12 people to boost it with or is the maps even in the playlist now? Hey 343 how about an answer?
