Was playing multiplayer for a couple of days and noticed that health/shields feels way powerful. Like for example, I played with a couple of people in multiplayer and I witness one person tanking two grenades and still walk away. Another incident is when I was making direct headshots to a person but it seems like he/she already has overshield when they didn’t. A third example is when I was an a one on one fight with a player and he manages to kill me instantly with one melee in 75% shield but when I do it, I only take away their health completely. I really don’t get it half the time.
Grenade damage is based on how close the grenade is when it explodes, it isn’t flat damage all the way through.
Headshots do NOT do bonus damage while shields are up. This is the same as it’s been since Halo 1.
Melee bleedthrough is a thing, if you are low shields, one melee will kill you. If you aren’t able to do it, it means you need to do more damage before you melee the person.
The first point you made about grenades doesn’t make since because he was close enough to do damage by the grenade and should have died, also his shield was down which is very inconvenient. The second point what you were talking about the headshots I don’t understand because if that was the case, I wouldn’t get killed instantly by a headshot when I have 65% shield. (Including melee) Which leads me to the whole bleedthrough mechanic, I find it weird that I never heard of that in the previous games I played but even so if that is a thing, there is issues with it regarding what I said about the shields.
Bleedthrough has been a thing since Halo 1. The Magnum was a 3 shot kill, with the third shot bleeding through your last bit of shield to kill you. The sniper would also take out half of your health with a body shot. Melee bleedthrough has been a thing since at least Halo 3.
I’ve never been killed by a headshot at 65% shield from anything that wasn’t a shock rifle or a sniper. Both of those weapons are single shot kills to the head. Bonus damage does not exist when the shields are up aside from those two weapons, and in the case of the shock rifle, it’s because the weapon itself technically fires multiple shots with a single trigger pull. It takes 4 shots to kill someone with a BR, 8 with the Commando, 7 with the Sidekick, and 3 with the Stalker Rifle.
I dunno what to tell you. This is how the guns work and have worked since the very first game. The game literally tells you that headshot damage is not applied when the shields are up. You can even go into a custom game and test this yourself.
Grab a BR, and shoot someone 4 times in the head. Then, shoot them 3 times in the body and 1 time to the head. It will still kill them in 4 shots regardless. It has been this way since Halo 2 for the BR.
As far as melee bleedthrough, it only takes about 2 shots from the BR and a melee to kill you. One melee will do you in when have about half shields or lower.
And if you think about it, it wouldn’t make sense for a headshot multiplier to exist for shields because the bullets are hitting the shield, not the head, so it doesn’t matter which part of the shield is your, the same amount of energy is used.
Well if that’s the case then all those other matches that I played previous, I shouldn’t have gotten killed instantly when I still have my shield going. Something definitely is not right. It’s either the certain weapons or the the shield itself.
