Why do the Spartan IV's look so skinny?

I personally don’t like how they look now. They look a lot like Samus from Metroid Prime Hunter? I like the size of Spartans in Reach much more. Why did they change the look so much?

In universe Spartan-IV’s are adult volunteers from all service branches of the UNSC, to me it makes sense they aren’t as muscular as Spartan-III’s or Spartan-II’s who were sculpted physically and psychologically to be the ultimate soldiers. But lead them to exhibit sociopathic tendencies. Admiral Margaret Parangosky (Director of the Office of Naval Intelligence) loathed the idea of using children for the fourth generation, and wanted to go back using Adult Volunteers like Project: ORION (Spartan-I’s)

Cough me cough cough

I don’t know if they are really any skinnier than past Spartans, they just don’t have as bulky armor.

I heard once that 343i wanted the Spartans to be more anatomically correct. The original models wouldn’t perform in a real world setting, such as running, crouching, punching and jumping. The armour was too bulky and didn’t allow for movement. I believe 343i actually had a navy seal try on the armour and attempt actions like sprinting and jumping and he could barely do it. Think there is a video of it somewhere.

I agree that they all look skinny and cheesy. But that’s not going to change in halo 4.

I agree with u that the females look almost anorexic, however the males are fine I’d say

They’re skinny because they’re physically fit. Not bodybuilders.

Give females models bigger booties. And then IRS all right.

But seriously, their base models both male and female came across as skinny track athletes, not soldiers.

Spartans are tall, lean, and thin. Except for in Halo Reach when they apparently recruited folks from the Gears of War or Starcraft universes and shot them full of steroids.

I like Reach’s armor texture a lot, but the shapes and sizes are ridiculous.

I know a lot of soldiers, and they’re mostly built like athletes, not body builders.

I thought the Spartan- IV’s looked scrawny, not lean. I get what people are saying about lighter armour, and the Spartan IV’s aren’t 'sculpted physically (pumped with steroids). But in all fairness, regular UNSC soilders are probably bigger! Halo Reach’s base models are pretty hilarious though, especially the girls. But they still look better than in 4.

This one chick in my Spanish class is anorexic. If she put on halo 4 armor, she would fit right in.

Halo Reach ladies had that going on

They lack the genetic enhancements that the Spartan II’s received.

this is a really old topic…

To much exercise for Spartans makes them skinny, and they probably live off military rations

Reach looked too bulky for me i prefer Halo 4 models better.

The spartian 4s are not as phylically enhanced as the spartian 2s because they did not go throught the entire training from when they were kids like the spartian 2s. they also did not recieve as much augmentation.

That’s what it seems like to me.

The Spartan IV’s were Captain America’s anyways, smaller men and women that volunteered to be able to don this new suit and go out and kick -Yoink-.
they are wimpy and it reflects, but mostly they are supposed to have on these brand new state of the art suits, not these suits that were hacked together prototypes, or early gen suits, but instead are the best of the best suits that don’t require as much shielding, plus the people being canned into them aren’t these super steroid infused monsters that the second gen were. Personally I like the lanky look of the newer ones, just as long as they don’t keep steering them towards 70’s SciFi suits like they seem to be doing with this first step in “sheek”
