I think they look more like spartans rather than ODST’s
They are Spartans, that’s why. Either that or they’re ODSTs wearing Spartan Armour. They’re definitely wearing Spartan Armour though.

improvement to armor technology, but i bet a spartan 4 helmet could probably pay for a few hundred marine armors
alot of things “look” the same in the military world, jets, guns, bullets, whatever, it doesnt mean they have the same capabilities

Considering that the s4’s are just really good marines, odsts, and other troops it makes sense. I’d bet that basic ODST no longer exist and they’ve all been upgraded to S4 armor. So really all ODST’s are now technically ODST Spartans.

It’s because they are Spartan IV’s, they AREN’T ODSTs, they are part of the squad of Spartan IVs attached to the UNSC Infinity

This. I do understand how people confuse them with ODSTs though, the helmet/visor looks very similar and they’re the same sort of colours, but other than that they just look like Spartans with a different armour variant.

Oh yeah, I do understand how people can make the mistake, but it does get rather annoying when people refuse to accept that they’re Spartans and not ODSTs after you show them the proof.
But in the end, it doesn’t really matter much. No matter who is right, we’ll all know the truth for sure once we play the game on November 6th!

They’re definitely Spartans or else ODST’s in Halo 4 look completely different then every other Halo game…
i hope they are ODST’s i dont want all the spartans to have the same armour, i was hoping they would all be different

They are wearing different armour. Looks like an Air Assault variant. Obviously since a lot of ODST’s are being upgraded to Spartan IV’s, they are going to be wearing mjolnir armour.
I just want to point out, that that helmet isn’t ODST. If you look at the new flag assassination vid from comicon, you can see that the guy with the flag has an ODST helmet on. It looks fairly similar to halo 3/reach. The helmet you are referring to is brand new i believe.
In the picture are Spartan IV’s, but they’re wearing ODST armor.
Reason: The ODSTs are very proud, so they continue to wear the ODST variant because they are still ODSTs at heart. I mean wouldn’t you do the same?

They have to be spartan 4’s. In the story you HAVE to be augmented to wear those suits. In one of the books, I believe it was The Fall of Reach, an ODST tried on the suit and broke every bone in his body because the reflex system was too much. By the time the 4’s are out the only reason they can be volunteers is because they perfected augmentation.
Also keep in mind that Spartan 4’s cant just be anybody. The volunteers have to be EXCEPTIONAL soldiers. They can come from any branch, so the possibility that some ODST’s became Spartan 4’s is very plausible.

to me it was a disaapointing sight looking at that image, but am still very excited for halo 4 i cant wait.
I have been wondering about these two for a while…I assumed that is going to be the default player for 2-4 co-op players.
