Call themselves that, “Forerunner”? Surely it’s a pretty illogical title for the race to give themselves? As far as the Forerunners are concerned, after all, they don’t have any true successors, and therefore aren’t the forerunners of anyone…
Just a thought that I felt was daft- a race calling itself a name that makes no logical sense…
Cause they are running this galaxy forward, ergo, Forerunners.
What i really want to know is why that planet has the English name of Requiem. Even the Covenant terminal they called the planet Requiem like that word doesnt exist in their language.
Precursors, before the forerunners, before us. Bornstellar even says that their name meant not a static place in the mantle or something like that. They knew there would be succeeded.
It’s to acknowledge their place as temporary guardians of the Mantle; even if that be for millions of years, they know that one day they’ll be succeeded by a species better than them.
Canon said, IIRC, that they specifically called themselves that because they knew one day someone would take over from them, much as they believed they had from the Precursors.

Didn’t they wipe out the Precursors, and as revenge the Precursors made the Flood?
