Why DO The Arena Maps Not Resemble The Campaign?

How come halo 3 maps resembled all the different levels on the campaign and halo 5 doesnt? Just seems like alot of the halo 5 maps are totally random and really dont have too much to do with the game. Like BOULAVARD??? Where in halo was that map made from? Just baffles me why the maps wouldnt resemble the campaign.

Id really like to hear everyones feedback on this topic. Just opinions on wheather you think the maps should resemble the campaign or is random ok with everyone?

Because War Games are designed to train SIV’s to fight in a large variety of environments and the maps are based on scans of locations with in the Halo universe. I guess the WG technicians haven’t digitized the scans from the locations in the campaign yet.

Thats what baffles me, why not then? Why arent we playing halo looking based maps? SOme are i ge tthat but some are so far from halo 5 its not even funny.

There’s the new Sanghelios Arena map.

lol ok so theres 1 lol… Im just wondering why they felt the need to slap maps together that have nothing to do with halo into the matchmaking system and think wed be good with it.

Well except that very few halo maps were ever from campaign. Reachs system always seemed lazy to me.

I think some people complained that Reach’s maps looked like they were ripped straight out of the campaign. Some called Bungie lazy (I didn’t care though).

All of halo 3 maps were from the campaign in some way… I just think if your gonna make maps you should pull from the story line and not just make maps like boulavard with random cars on the map lmao…

But at the same time thats what makes halo halo lol… why would you make a story line completely different from your matchmaking? Geeez atleast put halo vehicles on the maps if your gonna make then in matchmaking lmao

That’s false. For the most part, Halo 3’s maps didn’t resemble campaign levels. Only Rat’s Nest, Foundry, and Standoff seemed to directly take place in any campaign levels (if I missed any, someone let me know), and those maps were all part of DLC. In contrast, every base map in Reach was ripped straight out of the campaign, except Forge World. It’s the first and only Halo to do that. As far as I know, not many players were happy with Reach’s map selection. This could be why very few maps take place on campaign levels.
I’m okay with the seemingly random selection of environments in matchmaking. If most of the maps were to come from the campaign, I believe the environments would get stale very fast.

so maybe COD could make it maps on the moon or crypton next lmao…ohh thats right the maps are from the campaign or proper maps that have to do with the game and you dont see players leaving that game… SO why would halo make a storyline on these super duper worlds but not have any maps resemble them at all? SO your happy if we had maps in a mall or a grocery store etc… lmao… no we have that resemble the storyline…

Many of the multiplayer maps we probably made before the began with the campaign or at the same time, but if you can see the newer maps resemble more to the campaign.
Sanctum with Sangelious
Prospect with Meridian
Mercy with Sunaion
Temple with Sangelious

I feel like they simply went in an unfavorable design direction with Halo 5.

Hmm I could care less about if the maps are or are not from campaign. I just want some variety and quality out of my maps.

I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at. COD games take place on Earth (with the exception of Moon in BO zombies), and Halo takes place across the entire galaxy. Again, Reach was the one and only Halo to release with nearly every map as a literal copy of a campaign mission, and not many people were fans of this. I don’t have a problem with maps taking place in campaign as long as they play well, but Halo’s multiplayer shouldn’t be limited to just the setting featured in campaign.

Why do we need multiplayer maps to resemble the campaign?

Does Apex 7 count since it is based off of the Halo CE Silent Cartographer level?

Edit: forgot you said “Arena”. But still…cough cough skirmish at darkstar cough
