What about the sniper rifle or the rocket launcher?
The only weapons I agree with you on at the moment are: Pulse Carbine, Plasma Pistol and Commando.
Pulse Carbine is just not that combat effective on itâs own, if the opponent has a full shield youâre kind of better off switching to any other weapon available. The Plasma Pistol is very situational and it still doesnât EMP vehicles, so again I usually leave that weapon on the wall as well. The Commando has potential to be better, it seems to want to excel at long range combat but it is automatic lol so I donât understand what role this weapon wants to play? LSS has taught me that it can be a sniper for âone shotâ players but it also taught me the weapon is unreliable at mid to close range against players with decent shield remaining.
The other weapons can be quite effective in the right hands. Hydra in close quarters to mid range is good for manual aim, I only use the lock-on mechanic for enemies or vehicles at a distance. The Bulldog is not nearly as good or memorable as the original shotty, but it is still useful for itâs one shot + melee or itâs rapid fire for clean ups. And the Stalker is a beast if youâre landing headshots, body shots can be inconsistent though.
I must also say that the Ravager is actually quite good now. I use it much more often then before the update. And the Mangler still seems to be viable for me as well, but I do miss the old one shot + melee that made it so deadly(but I knew this wasnât going to stick around for forever, so oh well).
âŚItâs the best non-power precision weapon in the game. Youâre kidding.
This one does suck.
It is bad.
Best shotgun in the series. Old protocol with the M90/45 was that you shoot and punch. Same here. Except it has twice the range of any of the old ones and a tight cone. Itâs strictly better.
Treat it like a large rifle you have to lead. You can two-bang spmebody with it. Itâs VERY powerful. The tracking is for vehicle killing only.
It could be better and itâs hard to use, but it has the fastest TTK of the UNSC rifles. Last Spartan Standing will make you want to get good at using it. What it needs is a bloom reduction. After that, itâs fine.
Sorry dude but youâre basically wrong about all of these except the Plasma pistol and Pulse Carbine.
- Stalker Rifle - Like many have said, it is a high skilled and deadly weapon.
- Pulse Carbine - Iâm -Yoink- at using it so I canât comment really. I did get a kill with it once but it felt like luck.
- Plasma Pistol - Again, another weapon I donât have the patience to use, so by default I suck with it.
- Bulldog - Took me awhile to find itâs rhythm but once I did, I fell in love with it. Perfect âsurprise -Yoink-!â
weapon. - Hydra - Another high skilled weapon. If you can use it properly it can be devastating to both infantry and
vehicles. The slow reload time does suck but only because it forces you to keep moving and find cover. - Commando - I hated this gun until I was forced to use it in the Tac-Ops event. There I learned how to aim it
properly and control my bursts. I only use it when I know Iâm going to be targeting enemies at long range.
This.
You are 100% right.
The Stalker rifle and Bulldog kick -Yoink!-, youâre just using them wrong.
I actually really struggle with the Mangler, Itâs just easier to kill with the AR, but Iâve assumed itâs because I suck.
The Ravager is real useless, or did they buff it?
It got a buff but itâs not amazing.
After experiencing the Campaign variants of some of these guns, I wish they were replaced by these
I hear you on a few, but Iâve gotta disagree with most of the weapons youâre calling out.
The Stalker Rifle took me a little bit to acclimate to, but itâs phenomenal. Laser accurate and really powerful, but it punishes rapid fire with a fast overheat, so you have to be really conscientious of your shot placement. Crack that code and it may be the easiest weapon in the game to score âPerfectâ medals with.
Pulse Carbine is great for stripping shields in PvE and PvP, but I will agree that it doesnât really have enough bite to justify bothering with it in PvP. Itâs good as an assist weapon but not even close to feeling reliably lethal on its own.
Agree 100% on the Plasma Pistol. This little guyâs been all kinds of done wrong by this game. Itâs still a reliable for stripping shields at mid-close to close range and can be used reliably in that niche, but the overcharge homing feels incredibly nerfed vs prior incarnations and the removal of the EMP effect removes the single most useful thing the Plasma Pistol has ever done in Halo. Itâs the biggest âwhy even have this gun?â in the game by far, IMO.
I hated the Bulldog at first, but then I realized it fires automatically. It trades some of the insane damage of the OG Shotgun for enhanced range capability. Iâd prefer the original return, but the Bulldog is very reliable at netting easy kills (LSS, anyone?)
Hydra is downgraded from H5, yes. I didnât love it in that game either, though. Neither version really suits me. Iâd rate it low on the power weapon totem pole for Infinite, but itâs not useless by any stretch.
Donât agree at all at the Commando attempting to be the love child of the SAW and DMR. I donât feel like it was really intended to recapture either of those niches (if it was, they failed miserably). The Stalker Rifle feels like the spiritual successor to the DMR to me, and this game doesnât have a solid counterpart to the SAW at the moment. The Commando is very much its own beast, and hard to get used to. Try firing full auto to strip shields and then stopping to place a last headshot- thatâs whatâs worked best for me. Itâs my least favorite marksman rifle in the game but still plenty usable.
I actually use these weapons pretty consistently. So I think I have some intellect on how to use them.
Supression Weapon. Thats why its a mid-tier sniper with more ammo and consistency than the shock and sniper rifle. The hardest shots are the third headshot. Use it mainly for range suppression to support your teammates pushing. Its a defensive-playback weapon.
Literally grab this weapon all the time. Its your new Noob-Combo. It tracks better weapon aimed. But burst a shot firs then switch to your precision/primary weapon to finish off. Only use it to take shields off. Better mid range.
Use it like the Halo 4 Boltshot. Just charge it up around a corner and hit someone then finish the kill. Better on unsuspecting enemies.
Not as great as the old shotgun. Much more consistent. Its not a front line weapon. Use it to backline or flank or camo, best against enemies off guard (speaking in BTB terms)
My favorite weapon. Donât use it as a primary weapon. Track open enemies. Throw two missiles in and clean it with a precision. Free-firing does more damage, use close range. Does more damage to vehicles especially air vehicles. My favorite.
I call it a sentry weapon. Not an aggressive or defensive. But really good at clearing enemies that mis-position. If you practice and get good aim with it, you have a faster kill time than the Battle rifle, much faster than them to react and recover.
Ima just throw in the Heatwave as well because I prefer than the Bulldog:
Its much more reliable IMO. Learn to trace enemies with that weapon by using the verticle shot. Horionzontal to finish off no-shields because its easier to hit and is usually one shot by then anyways. Strong against vehicles too, but I prefer using it on infantry.
These are just how I use them. The thing about Halo is that every weapon does not do the same purpose of raw killing. Each play a role and some better than others. But if you want to be consistent with your ammo usage between your two weapons, learn to keep a primary and secondary weapon.
- Stalker rifle: I suck with the stalker rifle but getting better but say it has a slow rate of fire is wrong. It fires like a Rifle it is not a semi automatic. I feel the only thing it needs maybe make the reticle bigger but that is more personal.
2.Pulse Carbine: I would agree with everyone that this weapon is useless if it was 2 months ago. I could not hit with it until I watched a few videos and now I am actually getting kills with it. Long distance it is a good not great but a good weapon, up close tracking is useless but medium distance 343 just needs to tweak the tracking, I lock on fire and they just need to take one step and miss
- Plasma Pistol Next. Honestly the only thing I can think of that could save this weapon and have the community go into a frenzy is making it when you pick it up it becomes duel wield and making it 5 body 1 head kill. it takes about 12 shots to kill someone with that crappy weapon so duel wield 5 body is 10 shots and 1 to the head is actually 2 making it kind of OP but the down fall would be you cannot utilize your Grenades while duel wielding them.
4; I love the Bulldog I am a mediocre player who shreds with the Bulldog so yes please buff the Bulldog and I will become the BULLDOG GOD!
5: Hydra. My Favorite weapon in BTB. yes 4 missile kill is good and a 3 missile would be better but if you learn the best way to use it because the missile tracking is good if there is not cover they are hit but if a spartan duck behind something than yes it should miss. Try this Total Control keep at a distance and support your team lock on to Spartans that has a damage shield easy and faster kills.
- Commando: love hate relationship I have had matches that I get kill streaks with it and other matches where it sucks. I think the Commando just takes tons of practice because of the recoil, here is a hint When firing start low at the body and let the recoil get to the head for a faster kill. do not aim for the head after a few shots the recoil will do that for you.
The pulse carbine is a weird one because in a very specific situations itâs really good -example: play with a friend and have one of you strip shields with it while the other cleans up with the BR. I was thinking though, what if they increased the tracking/projectile speed but made the bursts only fire 2 blobs and increased the damage of each blob to be roughly just less than it is currently if each one hits the target. My thought here would be to make it viable to use on its own but also adjust the skill gap so while usable its not op. Let me know your thoughts?
It needs some form of drastic change because right now it isnât a viable weapon to pick up due to its extreme situational requirement. Having it be more accurate but less damaging would help.
I always talk about weapon utility and the fact that some weapons are great but so infrequently that they shouldnât be picked up ever due to that fact.
I like the idea of making it more bursts tbh and have more of a spread, so you could pepper it across a team. More splash damage. Right now itâs just unreliable as a strafing enemy will likely punish you hard.
Although thatâs kind of encroaching on the plasma rifles territory, I could totally imagine this and how useful it could function as a area denial weapon. Iâm imagining an enemy team grouped together, top mid on live fire or something and just all of them losing their shields, almost like if the horizontal fire on the heatwave was effective but with a faster fire rate and splash damage - at this point tho its basically something completely different.
You just donât use it well. My general go-to weapon combo on an open map is precison+Pulse rifle. When you use it enough, you get to a point when you know a shot is going to track and when it isnât. So you know when you should pull it out. When that happens, Rits really great if you switch to your precision every burst.
You are 100% CORRECT!!! and these crap weapons have no place in Swat!!
You totally lost me at âBulldogâ weapon is an absolute BEAST
Youâve probably never used the OG shotgun, otherwise youâd realize that Bulldogâs lame.
I totally have. Itâs great up close buuuuuuut the bulldog is a beast. Tight spread with crazy range.
