With Halo 5, I’ve heard so much about how it’s going to suck basically because it isn’t a clone of Halo 2 with better graphics. Even minor changes from Halo 2 and “Halo is dead”.
Is this what the majority of Halo fans actually want, or are these people just the self-proclaimed pros who can’t play without grenade spam and relying on their team mates rather than their own skills? Or do people just try to follow the crowd?
I’ve noticed that many of the most vocal people are really bad at Halo Reach and Halo 4. I routinely get 3.0+ k/d when I play against them in Halo 4, without ordnance, perks, or armor abilities. Wonder if that has something to do with it?
I’ve been around since CE, and I think Halo 5 looks fun and competitive so far, but it’s hard to tell without actually playing it. Can’t wait to try it out, and I hope people actually give it a try and keep an open mind.
I think that as long as the game is balanced and that the main themes of the Halo trilogy are there, the amount of Halo 2.5 wanters will slowly dwindle and more people will support Halo 5. I love Halo 2 as much as the next guy, but change (as long as it keeps the original spirit of the series) is great in my book. We’ll see come the 29 (or today if you’re really lucky).
I’m completely with you. I’ve realized after playing Halo 2 online again after such a long hiatus that when I used to say Halo 2 had the best multiplayer it was only the nostalgia talking. In reality I’m much more interested in H5 than playing Halo 2 anymore because Halo 2 and even H3 to an extent feel very antiquated.
I don’t want the same old dated Halo because these complainers want 343i to play it safe. I want the opposite, I DON’T want them to play it safe. I want a nice evolution of Halo like Halo 2 originally was at launch. One where people will be complaining 10 years from now about whatever Halo is about to release because they want Halo 5.5…

“Why do so many people want Call of Halo: Guardians?”
See how easy it is to marginalize? People want good change, not change for sake of change. Vehicle boarding, forge, and theater were good change. Ground pound, sprint, and spartan bros not so much. Clamber and thruster could potentially be good or inconsequential, so I’ll wait for them.
I think it’d be cool to add a latch on feature where you could ride the outside of vehicles like hanging onto the bottom of a banshee or the side of warthog, if say the seats are full. What I’m getting at is, copying or trying to play catch up isn’t how to get Halo to the top. 343 needs to invent unique mechanics that make other developers want to catch up, like theater did.
Some people would prefer to live perpetually and ignorantly in the past than embracing changes of any kind: Even good ones. I don’t know how H5 will play, but neither do the naysayers, and they can’t know until they give it a chance. Literally, up till now, everyone who’s complained about it had no validity to their argument. It’s ridiculous how people are willing to assume so much with no actual hands on knowledge.

Also, what I’ve noticed in my experience is that you can’t ask these idiots to be open minded because you can’t create an open mind, you’re just born with one.
Idiots will be idiots.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
Why do so many people want Halo NOT to be what made Halo great?
Why do we need to “keep up” with the industry trends?
Why not move Halo forward in a better direction that would make sense for Halo?
My generation are the ones that made Halo successful in the first place.
We have gone on for the past 4 years on what would push Halo forward in a better direction and have always been ignored.
Then the people who ignore us say we just want Halo 2. That’s BS if you actually pay attention to what people are saying and the reasons why they’re speaking against these changes. Hell, I could live with H5 as is except one thing. Sprint. If they dropped sprint from Halo 5, it would make the game 100 times better. That is the only big downfall this game has

I agree, mostly. I’m also not a big fan of sprint (or ground pound from what I’ve seen), but few of the Halo 2 fanboys are as reasonable as you. One minor change from Halo 2 and Halo is Dead™.
Ultimately I’m just worried these people will come to Halo 5 expecting that it must be Halo 2 and whine about all the changes without actually trying to adapt to them. Then “Halo 5 sucks” will become something everybody “just knows” to be true, just because a few very vocal people say it.

No. You probably just don’t understand what they’re saying and you write it off as hate. Since I have been playing at Halo events for over 7 years, and have met hundreds and thousands of Halo players, I can tell you that their reasons for not liking Halo’s new direction is justified. Halo could be on a damn good path of growth and awesome gameplay.
But this community of “pro-H5ers” ( Whatever stupid crap you want to call it, I dont care ) does not care about immersion through gameplay. No no no. They want immersion through “realistic” features in a game that was never made to be realistic in the first place. It’s a damn video game people. Why would you want realism in a fantasy world over creative and fun gameplay? That is what these people seem to come off as. A bunch of people who hate gameplay but get excited by shiny lights.
