Why do so many people hate sprint?

Its honestly stupid to me, why the hell would you want to WALK away from someone trying to kill you, espically those who need to get to a weapon that could save their life by running to it. I see people complain about it and it makes no sense. Please explain the insane reasoning behind this.

I really love sprint. Bungie was thinking about putting sprint in halo 2, if they did it would make halo more fun :smiley:

From now on, sprint will be default i believe.

because people got their -Yoink!- in a bunch because it isn’t a Halo 3.1 game.
it’s evolving and people want to buy another Halo 3.

^And people like you want to buy another crappy REACH game…

> And people like you want to buy another crappy REACH game…

And people like you keep bashing on Reach, when some people (like me) were perfectly happy with it.

Can’t say I’m as thrilled about Halo 4, but that doesn’t have anything do with with Sprint.

Because it “ruins” competitive play. Which it doesn’t because everyone can sprint.

Source?

I never heared about this. Don’t you think they would’ve added sprint in Halo 3, if they wanted to put it in Halo 2?

my cousin claims it not being an armor ability messes it up. he says if you choose jet pack or regen for example you should have to sacrifice sprint. its insane to me that a spartan would need a special thing clipped to his back in order to move the way a regular guy can move. ive heard others get mad they chase their prey into another fresh enemy and die, sounds like a tactic used in a military, an ambush. i think its a tactic that fits well with halo. or sprint in to melee n finish a person off or sprint toward a power weapon or sprint toward an objective. in fact next i think you oughta be able to go prone in halo 5 on xbox 720, graphics will be good enough it wont make the textures ugly when your close to them like it has in the past, and again these are movements a 4 year old can do so why not a super soldier.

They were having thoughts about putting sprint in halo 2. I don’t know the source of this because i heard this in this forum!

here this is why.

Player A shoots player B to low health, Player B sprints away, Player A sprints after him while player B’s shields are recharging while sprinting, while player A cannot shoot him while sprinting.

Do you see the unbalanced aspect of sprint now?

everybody says bungie was so great their halos are awesome 343s not half as good. 343 has made a beautiful game with an epic if confusing story and handled the other halo media books and etc way better than bungie ever did. and why do ppl like to forget armor abilities are a bungie creation, and further more they are present in your prescious halo 3 in the form of equipment which according to bungie was good but was under used and so they had us spawn with it in reach. so yeah thats halo reach, halo 3, halo odst and halo 4. more halos have had some form of armor ability than have not. i believe it was a halo 2 teaser trailer maybe that first used bubble shield, maybe wrong but iono. jackals have always had hardlight shields btw which right behind we want to use the sword for halo 2 was the second most requested item to become usable and gave birth to the bubble shield. jet packs got used by elites in halo 2 or 3 and that was the third most requested. sorry but the naysayers r a minority and furthermore your traditional halo experience isnt nearly as far from what you have today as your nostalgia lets you recall.

I dislike sprint because it has ruined what halo used to be. And I’m not saying I want a Halo 3.1.

Now sprint is default, 343 has consequently made the maps larger, and practically done away with 4v4 multiplayer. A halo prerequisite for 11 years. Because of the large maps there are only 2 proper 4v4 playlists, no Team doubles, and no FFA Slayer.

Also to try and balance the fact that everyone has sprint, 343 put some appalling “stumble” mechanic in when getting shot. Yet another addition that feels clunky, unnatural and doesn’t belong in Halo, just like not getting descoped. (which isn’t relevant to this thread)

Movement in Halo used to be about being smart. You were punished for stupid positioning and had to use your brain to get away from attackers. Now its just a sprint fest, where no one has to think.

Finally I could write a whole rant about sprint melee, and how it has completely destroyed CQC in this game. It is just a crutch for people who can’t shoot in an FPS.

Point would be valid in reach.

In halo 4 your slowed down considerably when sprinting twards or away from your opponent. So as long as your on target with your aim people never get away.

Unless of course there was considerable amounts of cover or he was just about to pass a corner anyway. At both those points players could walk away and be fine.

In Halo 4, when you are shot while sprinting, then you are dramatically slowed downed. Slower then if you were walking normally.

but do you complain when you need to live in order to get a perfection and sprint saves you, the answer is no, sprint is present in almost every video game, the fact that people don’t want it in Halo is amazing, also if a person is running from you, run after them, even if they they get their shields back, they still suck at shooting so if they shoot at you again you’ll still win because of their bad aim. Also what if the same situation happend to you where your gonna die and the enemy team only needs one more kill and your obviously gonna lose, are you gonna walk away and die like a idiot or run and quickly form some away to win. most people will choose to fight another day than simply decide, “well i guess i’m screwed”. Also in certain maps like exile, if i’m on the team closest to the tank while the enemy can instant grab a guass hog, i’m gonna need to get to it before the fool on the enemy team in the mongoose does which has happened a lot.

no i do not. can you not do he following:
Player B shoots player A to low health, Player A sprints away, Player B sprints after him while player A’s shields are recharging while sprinting, while player B cannot shoot him while sprinting.

see what i did there, i balanced your equation just like in algebra. your equation is as follows
1x=1
1 being the player and x being sprint but your equation is unbalanced and an inaccurate depiction. this equation is a more accurate description
1x=1x
i see balance, how about you?

I’ve never felt that sprinting damages my ability to shoot anyone. People invested enough in competitive play that they consider themselves highly competitive players… can’t hit a rapidly moving target? I don’t get it. I’m not that competitive a player. At all. And I have absolutely no no more trouble hitting someone sprinting than hitting a good jumping player who knows how to evade.

You can’t sprint backwards, so if they turn to run they’re dead. And if they get away from you, well, shooting at range is even easier in this game than it was in Halo 3 for me. So I have never felt hindered by sprinting… and I suck! Pretty badly! Shouldn’t people supposedly much more skilled - which those highly critical of this feature purport to be - have an easier time than me shooting someone trying to “sprint away” from them?

Not saying people don’t have an absolute right to this complaint. They do, and their tastes are their prerogative. I’m just asking for clarification.
