Why do players complain about the Spartan Charge?

It cant be that bad . . , is it?

Not really, it doesn’t do any more damage than the regular melee it seems. Only real difference is it knocks the enemy backwards. People just need to complain about something - as to why? Dunno scientists haven’t figured that out from the test subjects yet

Because it should be removed from the game. Seriously.

People criticize the Spartan Charge because it has a knock back effect; it can be activated and hit someone from a good distance away; it promotes panic fighting (as in, I sprint around a corner; a dude is right in front of me; I panic and activate SC to drain his shields, if not outright kill him); it cannot be countered easily, even by thrusting, since Halo 5 has really narrow maps; and in general, it feels like a cheap death when I get killed by it.

I’m not too bothered by Spartan Charges yet.

My only complaint about it is it’s existence in Grifball. Anyone can Spartan Charge and score a kill, or constantly killtrade with it. Sure, a gravity hammer smack can easily halt a Spartan Charge but it’s so frustrating when you obviously hit them and their charge still kills you straight after. And I’m finding it frustrating when I’m about to score a goal and halfway across the map… a Spartan Charge kills me.

Especially in Grifball when you’re the Grif.

It does 20 extra points worth of damage as compared to the regular melee.

It seems? How about you take a look at the health bar right below the shield when you get spartan charged. It absolutely, 100% of the time, does a sizable chunk of your health in addition to dropping shields from full health. A standard melee does not do this. A standard melee does not set you up to be finished up by a couple of AR shots to your toes. It seems that you, with your wealth of Arena experience, are wrong.
To answer the OP directly, the reason Spartan Charge needs to go is that it adds nothing positive to the game and does not reward player skill in the slightest. What it does is reward sprinting around like an idiot—undermining the whole point of balancing sprint with shield recharge delay. It has entirely too much range, lunge assist is ludicrously generous, it does extra damage for no apparent reason, and countering it is entirely inconsistent. The fact that you can’t ninja some doofus sprinting up behind you because his charge will one shot you in the ankles, is idiotic.

Because its a noob panic button

because if the connection is bad enough there is no outplay, I’d rather the noobs spawn with plasma nades.

My annoyance with Spartan Charge is that it somehow tracks you when you boost to the side or jump. Another annoying thing is that the player can turn on a dime while sprinting and maintain the same momentum with their charge. It is ridiculous. I don’t mind the idea of the charge but there needs to be more risk to it as the tracking and absurd amount of damage you get from it is ridiculous.

iv seen people jump, clamber, and thrust and still have the momentum to charge.

I almost never get killed by it or get kills with it.
Pros: Does more damage than a regular melee.
Cons: Negligible aim assistance. Requires windup. Can’t kill a fully shielded Spartan. Long transition animation before being able to fire.

Its more of a niche than people are making it out to be.

LONG TIME BEFORE BEING ABLE TO SHOOT?
WHAT?

It isn’t bad. People who don’t like it use it. You can check your radar or get a reversal. You can dodge it or get a Perfect kill. Many ways to stop a Spartan Charge, Counter it, or survive. You might not always survive but there are many ways to survive.

yeah i have no idea what kind of connection he plays on… also he didn’t mention the huge knockback that also lifts you off your feet so you cant move.

They could have left a regular Melee i mean it would still drop their shields

Because it causes people grief and presents another challenge to multiplayer pros. An effective way to assist your team and die like an idiot… but good and usable when you are chasing somebody down and just ram into their spine and laugh diabolically and say nothing but “DID YOU HONESTLY THINK YOU COULD RUN?! BWAHAHAHA!”

I’m only bothered by it in grifball, SWAT, and Breakout, beyond that it is extremely easy to avoid, you just gotta be fast with your reactions, if you see a player sprinting shoot him to knock him out of sprint, and though people complain about that 18m radar it does give you ample time to react and move

Outside of the magnetism (which should be lowered), its literally a sprinting melee. People complaining that they keep getting killed by it, would most likely get killed if it was a regular melee. Especially from behind.
