why do people want halo 3 ranking?

i hated to halo 3 ranking because there was a pile of obsest boosters wanting to get to 50 so bad they would sell their family for 2 days of xbox live

I think because of the boosters / derankers. At Halo 3 times you could buy profiles with the rank 50 everywhere on every place.

Ranking like in Halo3 wasn´t a bad idea.
They should do a mix between Halo3 and Reach.

Something like: Nova/Skill 45…Inheritor/Skill 50
It should count Win/Loss and K/D and your Commendation…and so on.

So people could see are you a good Nova or a bad one…

Belittling competitive players on waypoint = go right ahead

Me responding = not allowed

It was the most satisfying ranking system to date in my eyes. Also, every game will have boosters in and there is no way to completely get rid of them. Reach had many boosters in it as well. Halo 3’s ranking system is one of the best and hope to see it return in Halo 4.

Well the fact that a black market for boosters developed means there was something there that people wanted enough they were willing to pay for it. It was that level 50. i want the true skill system back, but i want it unlisted as to what rank i am at.

The Halo 3 ranking system actually worked. The best people were the highest ranks, and the mediocre and casual players were in the mid/high ranks, and the new players were at the lower ranks.

Your argument about boosters doesn’t really have any foundation in truth. I was a 50 in multiple playlists, and I frequently enjoyed playing on my 50 (and I still do). Virtually every game was against other legitimate level 50s. There were rarely if ever any boosters, and if there was someone who had actually purchased their 50 playing in matchmaking, chances are they would just get completely embarassed by the proper high ranking players and lose that 50 quickly.

The only argument against the H3 ranking system that most casual/low ranking players use is “the only people at level 50 are boosters and people who buy their 50”. That simply isn’t true. The vast majority of 50s are excellent players. Halo 3’s system was effective, but it also had some huge flaws that could easily be plugged in a future Halo game.

Boosting could be completely eliminated. Boosting is the process of using a deranked account to level up a new/low level account more quickly. This deranking method was made much more difficult by Bungie towards the end of H3’s life. But it wasn’t eradicated completely. Surely the bright minds at 343 could implement a H3 trueskill system that plugs all the exploits.

To summarize. I would like to see Halo 2/3 style ranked matchmaking return. I would also like to see unranked playlists for people who clearly dislike the old brutally honest and fair system. The arguments for and against ranked matchmaking really just boil down to one fundamental point: would you rather have a rank that represents your actual skill, and matches you accordingly, or would you rather have a rank that represents how much you play? The latter suggests that you wouldn’t mind matching against guests and people of all skill levels in every playlist (which is the worst thing about Halo Reach in my opinion).

When did you discover this astonishing revelation?

I’m sorry I can’t quite understand what you’re saying.

Please don’t use the booster argument because if you can’t beat a booster then you’re bad, no offense.

If by chance you mean “De-ranker” instead of booster then I agree.

They lost their 50 in the playlist but not on the profile information.

If they reached 50 they were a 50 forever.

I like the Halo3 rank system because it was challenging, fun, and made people feel accomplished when they ranked up.

Halo 2 ranking was better.

Halo 3 ranking was perfect and fun imo. I don’t want a progressive and lame ranking system like Reach has. I want trueskill tied to it where it makes it a fun challenge and not something every player can obtain.

Beats me. I thought the Halo 3 rank system was horrible.

With the h3 true skill system those players would all be playing each other no problem but if we leave the rank unseen we can get the competition back in the game without all the hype.
