Seriously, why do people think that the Fall of Reach and the original Halo trilogy were years apart, they took place in the same year and people think they were years apart.
I just saw a thread where one guy commented that Buck’s squad may not have been born at the time of the fall of Reach. Yeah one major problem with that statement, can anyone guess what that is? Unless the squad including the rookie grew into adults and completed ODST training in the space of less than half a year then that would be a problem.
Buck was born in 2510
Dutch was born in 2519
Romeo was born in 2524
The Rookie enlisted in 2547 (sorry couldn’t find a birth date for him)
Mickey was born in 2530 which means Mickey was twenty two when Reach fell
That said he is still younger than the Rookie.
I swear that people try to correct on the timeline but fail to get it right themselves.

But it does get annoying when people think that Reach was years before the first three games even though they took place in the span of basically half a year.
Johnson was born in the late 2400s which would place him around the sixty to eighty year old range.
In short, he is basically right up there with Parangosky.

They didn’t spend a lot of time together. Cortana and Chief met on August 29th and Reach fell the very next morning. The two didn’t know each other for very long but most of the time they did spend with each other, she was literally in his head. They share a close bond because of this.

Technically Chief and Cortana spent time together for over four years.
Physically speaking it was actually a few months, well technically they still knew each other four over four years, Cortana basically knew Chief better than he knew himself on day one.
Don’t forget the time cortana spent captured by the gravemind on high charity she wasn’t with John then and I think that must have been a few weeks.
Maybe people are referring to the book and not the actual event when it comes to the fall of reach, so some of them may not have been alive at the start of the book which I think takes place near the start of the spartan programme or the harvest campaign which as pointer out above atleast one of bucks team was in a minus age.
But yeah Reach was glassed only a few weeks before the attack on Earth and I believe the Battle for Earth were a month long, correct me if I am wrong.
I still find it funny when people say that Reach broke canon because “Ther were no Spartan-Twees at that time!”

I just looked at a couple of time lines and it says that Haloc CE starts September 13rd and she is left with the Gravemind in the first few days of November. So it is basically around two months counting the extra few days here and there.

Very true, I’ve seen that brought up multiple times.
However, they’ve been through quite a lot together.
To be fair for the time confusion, didn’t the original copies of fall of reach have typos in the time stamps?
Its also the effect of the triology taking place in a much shorter period of time than the games were produced. Sequals usually put a fairly noticible chunk between them.
It also doesnt help that beyond halo 4, most of the games dont clearly state how long its been since the first one in the actual game. The gap between the first 3 halo games is extreme vague unless you read the novels.

Noble six was pulled out of Beta Company two months before Operation Torpedo.
The same was done for Alpha Company where a few members such as Carter were pulled out before Operation Prometheus for use in other special operations.
Basically, not all spartans of Alpha and Beta companies were sent on their one way trips. A handful of III’s were assigned to special operation teams and given MJOLNIR armor so that they could compare to spartan IIs.
I’m not sure how to explain Jorge and Operation Red Flag because I didn’t read up on that.

It started on the 19th. Captain Keyes became one with the Gravemind on the 22nd.
