Why do people think the Pulse grenade sucks.

I see alot of people dogging out the pulse grenades but i ask do you really know how to use them? Ive mastered the pulse grenade and i find them the most fun grenade to use. It is in fact thae most powerful grenade you can start off with. They stick to any surface, do high amounts of damage, drain shields and health, create a field for blocking paths, and do considerably a lot to vehicles. I just want to know why people hate them so much?

You spawn with only one for no real legitimate reason.
Very few people use them, so it’s hard to get more.
Frags are all around easier to use and do basically the same thing.
Blocking what paths? The game is centered around DMR spamfests at long range…

I actually never tried them against vehicles though.

Stickys are OP in BTB.

Frags work great getting peoples sheild down, getting campers.

Pulse grenades block paths but rarely actually get kills.

Pulse grenades are way easier to use then frags because they dont bounce anywhere, if you have good aim they are effective. Shoot em once and throw a good pulse grenade and their done.

Their my go to for objective based game modes. I used them a crap ton when KotH was in. Their good for clearing out campers in CTF and dominion.

@Ramir3z77

You can’t pick them up off of players who spawn with them. Only if they’ve been picked up by a weapon drop/ordinance drop.

OMDG they suck so bad. Everything they do, other grenades do better in all aspects. They bounce off the ground, don’t do much damage to start, and the only thing that seems to kill a spartan is the end blast, which no smart and non-noob would ever walk into because they are so easy to spot. They do so little, you should start with 3 -Yoink!-! Only starting with 1 is ridiculous. They also toss like bricks compared to other grenades, I have to arch them way more up, making for fast and accurate grenade placement impossible. So placing them too difficult to be worth it.

So if you actually want a kill with them you end up using your guns to bring down their shields, and if you use the suppressor a few more shots will be needed, then toss the grenades where they are GOING to be and hope they haven’t caught on to your tactics. In all honestly you find yourself wondering “I have their shields down, wtf am I doing throwing a grenade that probably wont kill them and just shoot them again and finish the job!” You will also wonder, “Hey WTF am I doing throwing these grenades, when I could just throw the other grenades and get an instant kill off the start.” And you will also cry as most will just walk through them like they are not there, where other grenades will strike fear in their minds, these though, they just seem to laugh.

So to say I am more than a little POed by these grenades as I have been trying to get expert with them. Need 200 more kills so honestly I have given them try, and I have been trying like non-other to learn to use them. Please, please, please 343 fix these useless grenades.

Aside from spawning with just one, they are amazing. If you are willing to run grenadier and learn to use them properly, pulse grenades will reward you.

And to anyone who says they can’t kill… You are doing it wrong.
That said I realize running grenadier is a hard sell.

As much as I love them their is no reason for them to be limited to one.

I honestly did not understand the point of pulse grenades until a few days ago. I hated them up until that point. If you just get their shield down a little bit and throw it right where they’re standing, instant kill.
What’s awesome is it still sits there for a bit and explodes after a few seconds, so it has potential to kill several enemy Spartans. Especially if you have multiple enemies with shields down within close vicinity of one another. Pulse grenade; bam. Multikill.

I’ll have to go back to trying them again. They’re pretty frustrating to use, but if you’re saying I can just throw them at them when their shields are down I may have to try it again. I’ve already mastered the other grenades.

Question, how is that different from other grenades?

The problem is that you have more than enough time to walk out of the grenade’s radius before it explodes. Not to mention you pretty much need to be standing in the center of it for both bursts to get killed.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but I think they suck as well. Yea they would work good if you were able to keep people from moving, maybe on smaller maps but every time I try in BTB the other player just runs away and nothing happens. IMO the plasma and even the frag are so much more useful and easier to get kills with.

because if someone activates it you can just step out if it ,and the dmg you get from being in the field is small

Because of the 2-3 second delay for the actual grenade to build up is enough to dodge it.

Because if you hit someone with a plasma, it’s a guaranteed kill.
Frags can be bounced off walls and take out or weaken plays trying to wait you out.

Pulse… It’s not that effective. It’s well and good and I enjoyed to use them, but they’re a bit limited to certain situations.

Lets all hope they are much improved in the TU.

They are decent in one aspect alone, about as good as sticky grenades are against vehicles, so if your looking to get kills, emp the vehicles then toss two pulse at the base. That usually kills something. Still though sticky grenades are better in general.

This^^ And they don’t do a very good job of blocking because you will only DIE from the blast if you are near the center, they are too easy to go around, even in a hallway.

I think they need a buff of some sort or atleast give us 2 of them =/

i found them to be useless in big team but maps that have closed in areas with no room to run work well and king of the hill they are effective as well.

I LOVE Pulse Grenades. That said, you do have to know how to use them and where to use them. Honestly in TS or BTB they’re really not worth using unless you’re on Adrift/Abandon (the lifts and tight spaces are perfect for Pulse Grenades). However they’re amazing in Objective gametypes or Regicide. I am currently around 80 kills away from mastering this commendation. The real problem with using Pulse grenades is that most people like to play offensively with their nades (good lord every 1 on 1 encounter seems to be “OMG an opponent!!! start spamming nades and hope to get lucky!!!” especially with people who use stickys). Whereas Pulse are more of a cleanup grenade, knock their health down and then use the Pulse nade. They’re awesome on lifts, I’ve gotten double kills on Abandon sitting at the top of the lift and throwing the Pulse down as they’re coming up the lift.
