I keep reading comments saying that Osiris is “just a bunch of try hards that show off too much and act cocky because they are Spartans now”. I don’t see how Osiris is cocky. Yes their Opening Cinematic seemed a little over the top, but that was just to show what they are capable of. For what we have seen so far, Locke and his team seems to understand the mission at hand. The only cocky one I see is Buck, and he’s supposed to act like that once in a while, just to lighten the mood up a bit. I know they are Spartans now and they have to take bigger and more serious missions like hunting Blue Team, but soldiers are not machines, they’re just people.
The main reason? They aren’t blue team. That’s not me speaking, but its a lot of people on these forums. People just really don’t like Locke (even if they’ve never actually played as him), so they’re gonna portray him and Osiris as annoying kids as much as possible. True, soldiers are people, but I think people are still adjusting to that from Chief being a rock in the original trilogy. I personally really like osiris.

This. People are so insecure when it comes to Blue Team and the rest of the Spartan II’s they’re going to try and make it seem like anything that opposes them is automatically evil incarnated and the absolute worse thing out there. I mean Palmer literally said a few playful words to the Chief that was meant as a joke and she was suddenly the most despised character in the Halo franchise.
The fact is from what we’ve seen of Osiris they’ve acted extremely professional and are all about getting the job done before anything else (pretty much the two big things people complain about when it comes to the IV’s). Can’t tell this to the Spartan II crowd though as they’ll twist everything until it suits their ridiculous agenda.
Because they are new, and new things = bad. To this community at least.
In all honestly I think 343i is playing up Spartan 4’s teenage attitude just to make Blue team look that much more seasoned. I think it works. Locke doesn’t really seem like a total buffoon though, I just think he’s fake, his acting is bad or something.
Other than them being the new guys, they’re Spartan IVs, and IVs are cocky to begin with.

That’s a nice analogy. 2-3 cocky Spartan IV’s equate to 500+ cocky Spartan IV’s. Gotta love the logic on these forums. I guess because there’s a few murderers out there means the entire world is filled with nothing but murderers.
My point is being proven post by post. Nobody can point to any specific instance where Osiris is portrayed as cocky and instead fall back on an extremely irrational generalization of an entire branch based on a few.

I don’t think they’ve really exhibited any over the top cocky attitudes yet, I just think in combat they are portrayed as really bold. I mean, to me, that Osiris intro could easily have been done on hoverboards. It looked like Ninja Turtles with guns.

So are Spartan II’s and III’s. Are we forgetting Chief jumping out of a space station with a bomb in tow and descending to a Covenant Assault Carrier? Or how about when Chief, Kelly, Fred, Solomon, and Arthur engaged an entire fleet of Covenant ships with booster frames and stormed the flagship full of covenant?
People seem to think the II’s never did what Osiris did in that opening cinematic and that’s flat out wrong. They’ve done it numerous times. They’re not always stealthy.

It’s actually exactly the same as how people treated Thel in Halo 2. There were people who boycotted the game over the idea of playing as him. Its really immature. Thel, Buck and Vale are probably my favourite characters in the whole franchise.

Yeah, thats the problem with Die-Hard fans. Thats why there is so much Hate towards the newer Star-Wars Movies (which are as good as the older ones, only a bit different), or if a longstanding ip change main-character(like Transporter) etc etc. If something new, people don’t like them. Thats not only with Halo-Community, its general speaking.
#Topic:
As far as my Opinion goes, i like both teams. As i saw Blue-Team in Action. Something called “Nostalgia” swelled deep inside of my Stomache. I love, even though there are new Features, like Sprinting, Teams etc, how classic and nostalgic Blue-Team feel/look. They showed, in the Cinematic Trailers, how differently they handle Situations. While you see, how Team Osiris handle the Situation a bit more agressive and energetic, Team Blue handles the Situation more Calmly and planned out because Team Blue seem a “bit” more experienced than Team Osiris. So Team Osiris brings fresh air, while it still feels/looks like Halo…
You could see that like New Gen vs Old Gen. And i find, people should acknowledging and supportive to new things, but respectful to the old ones…
Because they haven’t actually paid attention to how members of the team behave.

The hate for Palmer comes from the fact that sh’es just a horrible commander, not her jokes. Though most of those also suck.

I’m well aware of that, but the hate began the moment she attempted to mince playful words with Chief. That was a big part of the hate for her character.

A bit? You’re kidding, right?
As for the topic, Spartan IV’s as a whole whole seem like cocky frat boys. That must be what 343 was going for considering - up until they removed it - the winning team in MP matches acted as much. I don’t know if Osiris is like that but it’s understandable for people to assume so unti lthey play the game and see more of their personalities. People like Spartan II’s because if they complete a mission or kill an enemy or whatever, it’s just business as usual for them. They don’t think it’s anything special, they just do what they do like they always have. Whereas Spartan IV’s act full of themselves like they’re cool -Yoink-.
This is all the same in real life too. If you see two different people both perform the same impressive feat, the person that comes of cooler and more likable is the one that doesn’t make a big deal out of it.
Did you not watch the trailer? There was tons of cockiness going on.

Like what??
Do you even know what cocky means??
Vale, Locke and Tanaka were chill as -Yoink- while Buck was just being Buck as always. Nothing cocky, just a bunch of very lethal Spartans doing their job well and kicking -Yoink-.

Exactly. Funny how people can mistake their own preconceived notions and prejudice as a characters behavior when they don’t even exhibit that behavior.
I love Fireteam Osirs. Really looking forward to playing with them and Blue Team in Halo 5.
Now while some may say “cocky”, I saw what we saw is the difference between being a Spartan for 30 years and 3 years.
Blue Team is so comfortable in combat that what you saw in the trailer is second nature to them. Osiris is a young team of well trained soldiers, best of the best (well except Vale). But they are new. Most of them are still figuring out all they can do as Spartans.
