Why do people think Locke will just fight chief

Well for some reason people seem to think there’s going to be some massive showdown, i believe this is the thinking of people wh believe lock and chief are some braindead morons who will shoot everything for absolutely no reason. Seriously his job is to go get chief fro being AWOL not kill the guy or belittle him, plus locke is not a brainless order follower, he does have a job to do and he will go about accomplishing it and every time we see him he is doing research or prep for his missions. everyone always assumes he is no match for the blue team spartans, anyone ever think perhaps he will use more tact and be way more intellegent then oh look blue team hey stop ok shoot them, really are people really thinking that halo 5 will build up to some meaningless lets shoot at master chief thing. nope i sure there will be more depth and it will more then just run and gun down the chief if anything he may run along with the chief to finish the mission then bring him in, ya know.

I think this sort of they are enemies and both team will try to slaughter each other comes from the bad sentiment to oh a new guy who is trying to replace the chief. but i dont think that is true at all if anything its a breath of fresh air to have so many characters in the game i mean seriously running around alone as the chief got boring after a while why not have a team and more people. i think we should give more credit to Locke the guy is not a dumb -Yoink- he thinks things through he tries to be a step ahead and he has a sort of campassion thing when it comes to having interrogations, so the guy is a one dimensional character of ok bd guy shoot ok chief shoot its deeper than that, and now i believe the chief is going to be more then a dude who just goes around and shoots things you know i think giving chief more than being a walking tank that shoots things

Just my thoughts on the subject i mean it just seems like everyone is being narrow minded when they automatically assume Locke and Chief are mortal enemies.
they are at odds but in the sort of way where one guy has a mission to do something while the others mission is to basically bring back an AWOL team which in then creates the problem for each others missions.

It totally has nothing to do with the marketing suggesting that they will or anything.

Hell, even in the latest vidoc we see Locke after what appears to be a serious butt-whoopin as Chief looks out into the distance as the vidoc title appears.

It’s marketing. Bungie saw how people would react to a rival when Halo 2 was coming out. They knew to not market such things as such.

I remember expecting the last level of Halo 2 to be a showdown between Chief and Arby.

I never really thought of it being like that, but it is the angle marketing is pushing.

Basically, 5:16 to 5:56.

I do, however, hope it isn’t as simple as, “Oh waet, we arnt enemeez, lets teem up n keel teh REEL bad gaiz n saev teh galicksy!” and they team up and save the galaxy…

YAWN

Yea I hope it’s not some lame build up but I have my hopes high for the grand meeting. But I do think it’s more then what it seems it seems like locke will help chief but reminds him he must take him back you know like a bargain I’ll help you out but in return you comeback with me. And chief being the guy he is won’t be like F off he will most likely do that since he is all like mission first thing he finishes his mission and Locke returns chief. Then the story for Halo 6 is laid out as chief returns not to save the human race but evey race. From the flood. Once and for all.,

So hopefully not Halo 2 again?

I’m excited to see how this meet up will turn out I’m sure it’s going to be very complicated but in a good way you know. Look to me Lockes team isn’t full of meatheads, Vale is one of full understanding of other cultures Locke is a very intelligent man who questions methods duento morality. Buck though comes off as just a bad -Yoink- has had to make quick smart decisions to have survived so long he even spared the life of his old friend turned enemie to hand him over to authorities… After his friend tried to help kill him. And Tanaka is a true survivor and knows that rushed decisions and actions without thought can get someone killed. Seriously with those backgrounds why would it be assumed they will just show up and act like totally tools and try and fight chief.

I just think some people feel they misjudge or blantently overlook the facts of how these characters have developed.

Because they’ve been marketing the Yoink out of it that they will fight. And I’ll be severely disappointed if they don’t.

As for why they’ll actually fight, it could go two different ways:
They fight because Locke says Chief is going to go with him, whether he likes it or not. Chief says he’s not coming, so Locke tries to force him by fighting him/Chief fights him to get him out of the way.
Or they fight because Locke’s been ordered to eliminate Chief because it appears that the Chief is working with the Prometheans, backed up with the fact Warden Eternal makes it sound so, and a Human colony ends up being attacked.

Why? Arbiter already knew of the Prophets’ betrayal at the end of the story.

I would be disappointed if they did fight just seems like a brainless way to resolve things from a group of highly intelligent and strategic soldiers. It wouldn’t make any sense knowing the backgrounds of these people. It’s like building up a story of great minds who are masters in there feild and they resolve the issue by seeing who can punch the other the hardest… It’s like a lame fight at that point because you go and say wow really all that planning all that work, all that collective skill and that’s how this ends up … Freaking toolbags… Basically an all out fight because chief says no inwont go with you will make them both look like mindless toolbags and ruin the story for many people. I think most of it comes from people wanting to see chief as the main guy andncant stand the fact that there may be someone who can actually bebon par with him because he questions methodologies, and doesn’t just rush in blazing first ask questions layer rather he uses tact and studies his target. He is even rumored to have been seen scoping out how to disable a spartan 2 armor. Guys not dumb he knows chief capabilities so hebisbready for -Yoink- to go down but doubt he prefers that route.

I spoil the spoiler ’ YAWN’

John is a soldier 100%, he has been a SPARTAN-II from the age of 6 to now which is in their time 45 years, his only moment of insubordination was to Captain Del Rio when he ordered him to give up Cortana. Locke is most likely in his mid to late 30’s he has been a SPARTAN-IV for about 2 years, not much is known about him except for the fact he lead a team to the remains of Installation-04 to find a cure for a human only virus released on an outer colony by Sangheili terrorists. John is going to be with his only 3 remaining friends which is Blue Team it is made up of Fred, Linda, and Kelly they are going to do what it takes to do the job that was assigned to them which is to save humanity. Locke has a new team Osiris, which is made up of 1 ONI ghost 1 SPARTAN-II hating ODST and 2 unknowns but I predict former ONI for both. they are only together to find John and his team to figure out why he went AWOL and why he is going after the Guardians. With this in mind I do not see a fight at the end with Locke and John but a separation of ways once they know why each other is there and how to settle what they to to settle. If anything I see a fight between Commander Palmer and Locke.
