Actually she is almost 7 years old at the end of three and she also has absorbed an insane amount of information from the ring. Therefore she is actually really bloated from information and everything. However I don’t think anyone believes she is dying but she is going rampant. This means that she is beginning to develop emotions like humans and becomes highly unstable.
correct me if I’m wrong. I’ve been listening to the audio books a lot lately so canon may be messed up.

Sorry, but you’re wrong. She was created in 2549, by Halo 3 she is already 4 years old. By the time Legends hits, she is 7.
Cortana dies because a lot of ppl hate her. Including me.

If you read or at least listen to the audiobooks like I do a lot of things in the games make more sense and the characters seem more real than you would ever think them to be. And little things like this make the universer feel real.

That and with what she went through being plugged into Halo’s control Room, various Covenant ships, High Charity, and connected with the Gravemind, she was already on the verge of rampancy at 4, tac 3 years on that, and she is undeniably nuts by the events of Halo 4.
Though, keep in mind, they could realistically just say “Oh, the information from the Halo Ring strengthened her into a Forerunner/Human AI hybrid, so she will actually last (insert number of years here)”

I hope not. I’d rather do something to help her in Halo 4, rather than have her age situation hand-waved like that.

Also Halo Legends Origins should not be considered canon because origins takes place at least 4 yrs after the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4 is supposed to take place a year after 3, so Cortana is not even close to the end of her lifespan the only thing I can see is a PTSD from being captured and tortured by the gravemind.

I don’t know where you heard Halo 4 takes place a year after Halo 3. 343 specifically said it has been a very long time. Implying several years.

each story in Halo Legends takes place at different times. if it took place 4 years after halo 3, why were there spartans fighting the covies in some of the stories told in halo legends?

His point kind of stands. The specific story of Origins happens 4 years after Halo 3. But his information that Halo 4 is only 1 year later is false.
In halo legends she is shown flashing red, and that is just one sign of rampancy.
They don’t have enough info to be making those assumtions
