Really I feel like there is like a secret order of Templars out playing Halo to ensure that I can’t get my assassinations.
Its because people want their kd to be so high that they are even willing to steal their own teammate’s assassinations.
It depends on the player and perhaps the mood they’re in.
I don’t generally, but have because of various circumstances.
I’ve seen it when someone is down in kills (I’m holding them still after all) and it’ll be headshot out from under me. Or the infamous betreyal/splatter, sometimes not on purpose but most times just really bad teammates.
I’ll only steal it if you do it in a really bad place, and that’s to pull you out of the animation so you can escape and survive, honestly people go for assassinations when they are surrounded it’s not really very smart. Other than that I will only do it by accident.
Some people think they have a right to since you decided to risk the assassination animation. They think if you wanted the kill, you should’ve gone for the Beat Down. Honestly, though, that kill was yours as much as anything. They just like to be a jerk about it.
I only steal friends assassinations.
It’s like the Pigeon in a skinner box. See the button, press for food.
KILL THEM is the conditioned response in Halo and even if you present the player with a different situation where there are moral implications for their actions (ie. being a jerk) there is a lot of psychological inertia pushing them onto steal that kill despite the consequences (and to try to rationalize it afterwards.)
Because most of the community care more about sitting at the back of maps getting cheap kills with the easy killing machine, DMR. So the answer to your question is simple. Those same players who thrive on getting lots of kills no matter how dull their playing style is will never have fun and enjoy the game and its variety of weapons, so they will certainly not care about you getting an assassination when you have lined them up for the perfect steal.
Welcome to the Halo community today. You would have wished you were around during Halo 2, you would have had an awesome time.
Community today don’t play halo for it’s fun and how its meant to be played. The makers don’t help the situation either. They introduced ways for people to play a certain way and so you’ll have to do your assassination in private places.
Deal with gamers today. They are a sad bunch of people.
Peace

Neither did people in Halo 2. Remember sniper mountain on relic? The rafters of waterworks? Tank camping on coagulation? BXR’ers? Super Jumpers? Modders? -Yoinks!- that quit the first moment the game didn’t go well for them? No Halo community (assuming you can draw fine distinctions between them, which you can’t) has been more or less sporting than any other because the format and context (and the resulting psychology they produce) are both the same.

No kill is sacred, everything is permited. (?)
Now this is not about team assassinations, but I actually managed to kill an enemy assassinating my teammate that had a hardlight shield. Since that achievement is hard to do legit, I wonder what went through his head that moment, lol. About stealing assassinations I think it’s all about the mood like someone posted above. If you mad at your team-mates I bet you will steal it, atleast I would.

Ok, I will have to agree to your statement so I will change my fundamentals.
If you played Halo CE and Halo 2 LAN with friends and family, then Halo was the most awesome game ever created. The minute you go online and experience how people play the game online, you will have to deal with these issues I’m afraid.

It’s actually one of my favourite things to do in Halo 4.
I always did it to my friend who goes for assassinations a lot lol.

But Halo 2 did have a million and twelve people “yoinking” about CSR, an element that doesn’t add any fun. Back in Halo CE/Halo 2, all people cared about was having fun, not going all Dungeons and Dragons and bragging about stats.
Sometimes I’m in the middle of shooting a guy when a teammate comes up behind them and begins an assassination. I just keep shooting. There are other times when I see the enemy I start putting rounds into them and don’t realize he’s being assassinated. It’s a reaction. Then there’s the times when I just wanna be a jerk and annoy people.
Because I’m chillin and I’m in kill mode. When I see an enemy I just start shooting. I don’t usually realize it was a guy getting assassinated until after I’m done.
I really hate when people assassinate when there are enemies around so I will perform a “yoink” and believe me that I’m actually making them a favor by not making them waste time so they don’t get killed with a showstopper and so they can and move on, it’s funny how most people try to go for assassinations and instead they end up dying by getting interrupted or trade off kills… Instead of performing a fast beat down.
Sometimes it does happen accidently. I mean, you turn around and you see opposing color, first instinct is to shoot. But yeah, people do it purposely. A lot…
I will not do it to random team-mates but I will do it when playing with friends as they would to me also.
Hell that’s all we do when playing campaign or spartan ops co-op is see who can kill each other the most.
I do think some people do assassinations in such stupid places like the middle of Ragnarok or the killing field that is the lower level of Settler.
I think wtf & watch as they get gunned down right afterwards. Do that in a base/tunnel/cave not out in the open, come on that’s just common sense.
Either for another kill, and most people I guess would take a free kill if they had the chance, or just for fun. When you steal a team-mates assassination and they’re trying to shoot and 'nade you…
