Why do people say Reach is bad?

I don’t understand why people are complaining why Halo Reach sucks. If you guys didn’t know yet, 343 is doing what they can with Reach. Plus we have one more year to play until Halo 4 comes out. In my opinion Halo Reach is good, but not a worthy successor to Halo 3. Don’t get me wrong I think Reach is amazing game. But I believe Reach was what it was (Possibly to this day) is because Halo Reach was trying to be like Call Of Duty. I don’t mind sprint, jet pack, or even assassinations. I don’t mind them. But I didn’t really care for the bloom. There are flaws in every game. But it doesn’t stop them from being what they are today. But yet I don’t understand why people can’t enjoy Reach or Halo 3 now. That’s what I’m seeing. I see Reach as being competitive and Halo 3 being more casual. If 343 can make a casual and competitive division like Bungie did in Halo 3, Reach might have been 10X better. Hopefully Halo 4 can be like that again. And like I said before we have Halo 4 coming out and then we can see how they improved and what they could have done and see some flaws. Let’s just enjoy the game. I’m continuing to play Reach and occasionally getting on Halo 3 because I can adapt to the flaws. I see them as great games. And remember 343 is listening to us “The Community of Halo”. They do not want to see Halo die and I’m sure most of us don’t want to see Halo die as well. Let’s just enjoy the games that the developers gave to us.

And sorry if I went off topic if I did.

> There are flaws in every game. But it doesn’t stop them from being what they are today.

Finding flaws in every game is far and away a defense of Reach, in particular, since while no game is perfect there are certainly those with too many imperfections for their own good. As in Reach which, to paint broad strokes here, has terrible AI, writing, level design, aesthetics, and weapon balance (none of which are trivial concerns, but rather potentially game-breaking issues which together don’t leave much room for “to each his own, so just enjoy the game.” At least by my point of view.)

> But yet I don’t understand why people can’t enjoy Reach or Halo 3 now. That’s what I’m seeing.

Apart from the above, people have different preferences for different things. You may like both of these Halo’s, but that obliges no one to put their own tastes aside just to spend time with a game they’d rather not (though you are certainly welcome to.)

That’s a little pushy, since we can expect people to play what they will and avoid what they don’t like without any helpful advice for any case. That self-motivation is just part of being an individual, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.

Reach suck mostly because there is no balance anymore!

  • If you have rocket but he has a jet pack rockets don’t mean squat.
  • Sprint + Meleee,Melee beats firing your gun most of the time.
  • Invisible players everywhere jam radars like crazy but some how their buddys don’t get jammed? Thats fair…
  • Sword Block works only half the time resulting in luck! So why is it even there.
  • So many Forge maps and yet no good forged maps in matchmaking?
  • Bloom!
  • AA’s slow down everything.
  • Flag juggling practically removed and even if you could they have Sprint/Evade so its ridiculously hard to solo clutch.

Bored now and tired people thinking this game is remotely decent or trying to give it praise. When people would rather play original CE multiplayer you know the game is failing.

“Personal I prefer H2/3 gameplay”

That is the very definition of “balance”.

I stopped caring what others think about this game, especially here and B.Net. People will -Yoink- and moan about the dumbest things, especially when they take their FPS skills way too seriously.

Introducing AA’s into game play was requested by the community during Halo 3’s MM days, and now that they have it they hate it. Personally I think it creates a more unique MM experience and teaches you new ways around old tactics. Players these days are so stuck on fast-kill times, run n’ shoot tactics that it’s all they know how to do. If the game can’t provide this simple basic then they usually resort to calling the game “trash” or “unplayable”.

I think this game is a lot of fun, but Reach does have some problems. IMO, MM is more enjoyable than Halo 3 because of AA’s.

Dont we have enough topics about why Reach is or is not a fail??

Seriously I never ever remembered anybody ever saying the wish they had AAs during Halo3 MM period. If anything I remembered them complaining about the BR being nerfed from Halo2’s BR or registration being poor, the Sword being way too slow, but wanting AAs did you really even play Halo3 MM? I never heard anyone say “man I wish i could jet-pack up there” or wanting to use Armor Lock to protect themselves.

Many hated the Bubble Shield even to this day, or hardly use the Power Drainer, Regeneration too. Picking up Over Shield and Camo has always been the standard in Halo since CE, Change is good but Change for the worst is bad and thats what Reach is, its a change from the past 3 Halos for the worst.

Because people have opinions. It’s no great mystery.

Halo 3 is a girl with a longish face and fair skin.
Reach is a girl with a peanuthead and mole, but still pretty.
I’d rather have H3.

Its because its not Halo but a Halo spin-off. Nothing more needs to be said about why people dont like it.

One of the reasons that people don’t like Reach is because it deviated from the Halo formula and removed many things that people loved about the series in an attempt to be more like the other shooters on the market. It’s not necessarily that people thought Reach was a bad game, they thought it was a bad Halo game.

+1.

none of my buddies play Reach anymore, they got turned off by it completely (and all things Halo for that matter) and now they play call of duty

i dont have anyone left to play Halo with, so now i too play call of duty almost exclusively

its kinda sad that i had to turn my back on my favorite series because of all the terrible changes made to it with Reach and the fact that all my friends left it in the dust, but it is what it is

the population count alone is all you need to bring up to anyone who still defends Reach

I enjoyed Reach just as much as i did Halo 3.
Each game has its flaws, and you can’t please everyone when releasing such a title.
But for me i love it, The Online multiplayer works, i love the assassinations, Sprints, Jet packs and everything. So yeah for me i think its top banana.
Although Halo 4 is gonna be huuuge i’m more than happy to continue enjoying Reach until.

At the end of the days its just because of how diffrent it is from the trilogy and odst

I have my own reasons for liking/disliking Reach. Some of which you may not agree with, some of which you may. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a matter of preference in each Halo.

I think Reach is kinda a waste of time to be honest, but I’ll still play it. Passes the time I guess. Other than that, I have no real reason as to why I play the game.

Oh, by the way…

HI BRUTOUS!

Reach was good the way it was, the TU (if changed can still keep reach alive) did remove sword block which was good and it is about time and a few other things were okay. AL is still too overpowered. If they go with reduced bloom, I will not be a fan of their choice but I will not be ranting on the forums.

I used to like Reach, then i took an arrow in the knee

are you serious. I hate skyrim so much.
