Why do people not want a halo 2 remake?

To me it makes no sense at all. We get new stunning graphics, epic multiplayer and achievements!

What is the downside of this AT ALL?

if youre afraid of a Halo 3 remake, I doubt Microsoft is THAT dumb as to remake it so soon.

or do you think they should be working on halo 5 instead? well they have planned a trilogy, its coming no matter what, so unless youre afraid you’ll die before halo 5 comes out, I see no reason to not get a halo 2 remake.

FOREVER ALONE

honestly i would have rather had the Halo 2 campaign redone with current graphics as its been my favorite campaign so far. lolz. im prety sure they would redo it. But i would prefer that its not redone with any halo engine, but something super hi tech, like the crytech 3 engine that ran Crysis 2. =) that would look amazing!

I completey argee with you on this!
But they should ATLEAST include it’s own mutliplayer instead of porting it to the last halo game
(No offense REACH Players)

Halo 2 is not the game that started the game. It is also not the game where they found out that halo was the best game ever. That was all in the first one. That one did everything. So the first one is speical. The second one is too, but not as th first one;.

ALL of halo is special (or at least the trilogy)

Quite true except Halo 2 did one thing that CE did not, it launched with the 360 and it changed online gaming forever. So CE did not do everything and in my opinion Halo 2 is better in all aspects than CE although CE is very close. Halo 2 FTW!

I understand how some fans would not want a Halo 2 remake, but I don’t find any of them to be good enough reasons to keep it from fans who do want one.

Pros:

  • Completes the trilogy (makes all 3 original games playable in HD, over Live, and on the same console for the first time.
  • Halo 1 launched the Xbox, Halo 2 launched Xbox Live. Halo 2 remake would be just as special especially since Halo is known for it’s multiplayer.
  • Would make up for the fact that Halo 2 multiplayer was shut off.

Cons:

  • Takes away from how special the Halo 1 remake is supposed to be, but by the time a Halo 2 remake is done then many will probably forget about the Halo 1 remake b/c Halo 4 will be out.
  • Might lead to more remakes down the road (silly, but possible). 343 will be focusing on the new trilogy from here on out. A Halo 2 remake would be the end of it.

So as you can see the cons aren’t really cons. They’re mostly based on assumptions. The first Pro alone is a good enough reason for a H2 remake to me.

If the Halo 2 remake is just going to be like the Halo 1 remake with a remastered campaign and wanna-be multiplayer from a new game then I wouldn’t want a Halo 2 remake to happen. The ONLY way to do it and have it be as special as the Halo 1 remake would be if it included the original multiplayer remastered as well. Unless Halo 4 multiplayer is heavily-based on Halo 2.

Truth is if Halo wants to keep it’s current yearly release schedule and have a new game every 2 years with an expansion between each one, then they’re going to need a Halo 4 expansion, Halo 5 expansion, etc.

Also, if we’re getting a new console soon before Halo 5 releases then wouldn’t a great launch title be a return to the game that single-handedly launched Xbox Live?

I know a couple of reasons:

  1. 343i wanted to celebrate the beginning of the Halo franchise by remaking Halo: Combat Evolved.

  2. 343i do not have the time to make a Halo 2 remake. They have Halo 5 and 6 to develop and do not want to waste time making too many remakes.

  3. If they made a Halo 2 remake, then they would have to make a Halo 3 Remake. I don’t think they want to spend their entire lives making Halo remakes when they should be working on future Halo titles. If you want to play Halo 2, then you should play the original one.

343i should NOT remake Halo 2.

1 That’s not a reason for anything. A Halo 2 remake for the 10th anniversary is 3 years away so it won’t affect CEA at all.

  1. MS owns 343, therefor 343 can have as many of the best programmers and engineers in the world. The notion that a Halo 2 remake will interfere with someone’s concentration on H5 and 6 is ludicrous at best.

  2. That logic never works, nobody will hold a gun to 343’s head to remake H3. The remake of H2 would put all the Halo’s online. Saying that they would ‘spend their entire lives’ making halo remakes was a waste of font.

If that is all you H2 haters can think of then it’s safe to say H2 will be remade, imo.

Again, those people have no legitimate reasons at all. Ignore them; they’re just selfish and/or misguided. If you don’t like Halo 2, that’s great. Don’t try and deny Halo 2 Anniversary to those of us who love Halo 2.

Yeah, you’re right but they just post so much that it might paint the wrong picture to someone not on here every day.

Two reasons why a H:2 remake is just not feasible.

  1. Halo 2 never changed the console world and First Person Shooters like H:CE did, so why would it get a remake?

  2. Halo 2’s code is far more complex than H:CE, and a remake would take a minimum of 2 years.

Let me ask you something, why would 343i waste 2 years on Halo 2, a game which is already out, and already has a functioning MP when they can continue the Halo story line?
IMO Halo 3 WAS a Halo 2 remake, and IMHO Halo 2 was THE WORST in the entire series.

  1. Halo 2 changed online play forever and thus helped put the 360 on top. That changed the balance of the console world. It’s makes no sense to compare CE to that, since CE had nothing close as far as industry impact upon Live is concerned.

  2. That is your estimation if how long it takes to remake a game, not 343’s and for some reason you assume you can use your opinion as fact but even so, any company would spend whatever manpower they could afford in order to make millions. They will make money by selling remake disks so they will do what is necessary to achieve that goal. Halo 2 can give them that whenever they want to cash in.

For your question; it’s simple, they can do both.

I don’t know about this place, but I don’t think I’ve seen a single person on Bnet state that they don’t want Halo 2 to be remade.

I would love it. It is by far my favorite campaign and its buggy graphics were always my biggest complaint.

they should just put it up on XBL Arcade in its current form and enable online campaign co-op. Remaking everything is ridiculous.

They should put a multiplayer on XBLA and leave it at that.

No need to remaster a garbage campaign that was made in 6 months and consisted of nothing but corridors and jackal snipers.

lol @ the kid thinking H2 made more of an impact than CE. just lol.

Typing lol does not make you smart or correct. H2 had more of an impact than CE because it changed online gaming forever, CE had zero impact for Live, get it now?

H2 was the best CMP and was anything but corridors and jackals. You are just another who could not beat Halo 2 CMP on Legendary. That difficulty has made a few trolls and I’ll say hi to your Jackal buddies for you.
