Why do people hate this game?

Can I get a brief synopsis?

I don’t know why people don’t like halo reach, me personally i liked every thing about it, well multiplayer wise.

New Game Mechanics: Bloom, Armor Abilities x7, bleedthrough removed, rediculous fall damage, boosted splash damage

I honestly like bloom, I think it paced the game nicely. However I like the reduced bloom much better in TU. The fact that different cadences (combinations of firing speeds) had to be learned to be more effective at different ranges was lame. I expecially didn’t like all the accusations of cheating by little kids saying “you cant do that with the DMR, hacker!” bloom was great, but not easily understood without hours of experimentation to be able to use bloom consistently… it gave players the feeling that it was “random” and took no skill. Rather I say it added a new skill to learn. But I’d rather the game focus more on tactical movement and other tactical decisions rather than thinking about “ok at this range I need to pace or do I spam then pace for the headshot?”

^case in point, I don’t want to think that much about one game mechanic^

OLD TU PERFECTION on YouTube

video is almost irrelavent but was fun. This is not the same TU that we have today, this is old TU back when bleedthrough was a thing.

I dunno man. Its my favorite, next to CE of course.

I really love reach.

I never fully understood peoples hatred for Reach, As i have always enjoyed both campaign and MP. Will i play it again? hmmmm not often, If at all, The reason being, Halo 4 of course.

Lack of maps, Horrible maps, Dull creativity of forge, No full skilled ranking system, Theater broken, File share broken and much more… Bungie and 343 never attempted to make this game better.

Reach had a couple of Multiplayer problems, a dull Campaign, and too much emphasis on Forge World at the expense of original Multiplayer maps, but the real problem with Reach is the community.

Oh god, the community.

No offense, but everyone in the community needs to shut the -Yoink- up. Vanilla Reach is up, and people complain. TU Reach is up, and people STILL complain. Now we have a bastardized edition of both, and now no one is happy.

Some people in the community have really good points. Many have analyzed elements such as Bloom, Spawns, and Armor Lock, and have legitimately brought up reasons why these elements of the gameplay are broken and why and how they should be fixed. … There are also many that just jumped on the bandwagon and complained about stuff in Reach despite not knowing why it was bad.

And this is why Reach is what it is now.

Reach was a perfect game in my eyes.

Dang, after playing Halo 4, it feels sad to know Reach will slowly fade away. It was always doomed over time to do so just as its namesake.

Many great times and memories with friends on Reach

Don’t worry. Reach will not fade out. It is still a well-liked game and has a high population.

^This.

Not limited to only Reach though. Looking at the Halo 4 threads is giving me flashbacks of 2010. I’ve only been reading from the sidelines since I haven’t played H4 yet, but I’d swear people are copy/pasting posts from the old Reach debates.

Reach and Halo 4 are broken. But that wouldn’t matter too much if you get matched against equally skilled enemies… If both sides had more or less the same skill, the problems wouldn’t be as easy to notice.

If matchmaking was better at guageing skill, minor brokeness is simply a non issue.

Though I don’t hate Reach, in fact I actually enjoyed it throughout it’s life. However I will admit that it had quite a lot of flaws. Some of my problems with Reach include:

  • Overpowered AAs
  • The introduction of AAs did not work well with Reach’s slower pace, almost reminiscent of that of Halo: CE’s
  • Bloom was not handled well
  • Removal of bleedthrough
  • Noble team were quite flat
  • Dull maps
  • Hardly anybody had the DLC, and most playlists required that everybody had them. So you hardly ever got to play them.
  • And Theater is reserved for single-player only

However I can’t stretch the fact that I still like the game. For all its flaws, Halo: Reach can be pretty fun every now and then.

I don’t hate it, it’s better than Halo 4.

I loved Reach, but I love Halo 4 even more. Actually, there hasn’t been a Halo game come out that I haven’t loved every little bit - well, real Halo game, that is… We won’t count Halo Wars, the stain on the Halo universe.

Anyway, Reach was great. I loved it, and maybe I’ll still play it occasionally. But right now, it’s all Halo 4 all the time!

I loved reach.
I had no problem with the AA. except maybe armour lock on small maps.
I loved the maps. they was big and spacey
I loved the health packs return.
I loved the story. Maybe flat but epic and doomed.
I loved reach.

I find most peoples hate for it was from not being able to adapt to AA.
The armor lock was frustrating for a while. but its now a fairly mundane matter of timing a grenade.
1 sticky and they go full timer then just place the second one for when they run out.

Halowars isn’t a bad game, it’s my favorite game over all Xbox games that have or will ever come. Most people don’t like it, because its not a FPS or their mind can’t handle a strategy game.

AA’s really frustrated people about Reach because it was something different. If you really wanted to compete and become good at the game I felt you were forced to learn how to use each one.

The absence of the BR also really made players upset. DMR… single shot… precision… bloom?? Didn’t go well.

Bungie couldn’t have ended their time with Halo with a better game in my opinion. It was a very fresh change the Halo series needed.

Actually, you only need to be proficient in Sprint and Jetpack. Other’s you only need to be proficient in countering them.

Example

If you know how to counter armor lock well, then there is no need for you to ever use armor lock becuase you wont be dumb enough to get close enough to for them to use it against you. If you play right they will notice their choice in AA was useless. They’ll have to switch to another AA. And if they spent their whole time training with AL, then they will be at the disadvatage when they switch to an AA they are not used to. I haven’t died from AL emp in over 6 months, just because I never get close enough for them to use it.
