Why do people hate this game so much?

I get that the campaign’s story wasn’t very good, but the gameplay is fine. To me, it seems like outrage culture just loves to spread everywhere, because i’ve been seeing it whenever a new game comes out.

In some cases you’re right but on the case of this game it ultimately, in my opinion, is because of how little the game offered at launch, how deceptive the marketing was, the lack of couch co-op and finally the gameplay changes that made it seem more like other shooters and less like its own creative endeavor.

It’s not outrage culture as it just isn’t a good halo yes it’s a perfectly adequate shooter but not a good halo title And it isn’t even new so that argument falls flat as well

Other reason its because a lot of players couldn’t get used to Halo 5 multiplayer that is faster than others and in my opinion has more skill gap, for example when when I return to play MCC after a while I play well and I dont feel much difference between me and others players, but when I return to Halo 5 I need to play some games to recover the skill and a lot of times I feel that some players can destroy me easily in the first games that I play

Because halo went from a tense futuristic military style shooter, to a game with kitten skins on your dmr.
I confess that i use the mister chief skin.

Exactly, it’s a good shooter but not a good halo game… plus the servers are -Yoink- and barely run and when they do run it’s for about 10 minutes and I’m also sure that 75% of it’s size is just armor variants and -Yoink- emblems.

Are you outside north America? Never seen any major server issues other than a very specific period of time a few months ago that I believe affected everyone.

I’m guessing I am what you call a Halo Boomer so this is my opinion. For me when the game came out, I was stunned to see how much 343 but into this REQ system. That was one reason I left back then. Coming back today, it’s killing me to see how no other guns but the magnum get used outside of Power Weapons. I mean why would you when you can just 5 tap from anywhere on the maps in this game.

If I am remembering right, in Halo 4 the community hated loadouts because people only used BRs and DMRs in their loadouts. That led to nobody fighting over guns spread around the map and it was just sit back in a corner and pop shot. I thought Halo 4 was fine and it just felt right in trying to advance the game and innovate. These are just my opinions and I hope Halo Infinite will be something special for us all to enjoy.

I think that story is lame.

Well said! The pistol beats EVERYTHING. When a pistol can out perform a BR or Carbine from down the field, there is an issue.

As regards the Campaign Story, this is part of the issue - some people “get” 343i’s Mystery Story style in Halo 5, and some don’t.

For instance, many Multiplayer Weapons Themes contain clues to Halo 5’s story for people who missed the in-game clues. Example? The “Monster” skins were all predators used to try to kill 007 or others in the James Bond movies, so here too, the theme wasn’t “Kittens” but “Cats”, even as the hidden enemy in Halo 5’s story is partly inspired by this Bond scene. Note the idea about spotting small details and the idea “They told me you were assassinated on Meridian (in the H5 “A Hero Falls” and TV Trailer). You only live twice Mr. 117!” (a theme that would repeat in “Skyfall”):

Beyond this, in 343’s love of double-meanings, we find the “Cat” theme also refers to “Kat = The Hacker”, as in those “Memories of Reach” in Halo 5, and how the plot of both games involves people who’ve lost arms…

If anyone can’t work out the links, as I say, “Some people “get” Halo 5, and some… still believe that “Cortana is behind the Guardians”…”

I’ll try to summarize the majority of why people dislike the game:

  • The movement system and sprint (Personally I think this was a major upgrade from Halo 4) - Campaign that has 10 missions, only 3 has Master Chief playable and the rest Spartan Locke - Lackluster story - Lack of local Co-op/Multiplayer and split-screen - Lack of customization (like changing amour as a set, not individual pieces) - Very few playlists in matchmaking (at launch) - The menus and UI - Micro-transactions and the REQ (Loot-box) system (just like any other AAA game released around that time) - “Games-as-a-service” (Or content updates, reason why people hated this is because there were missing content that should’ve been at launch, like forge, infection, and big team battle. And again, just like any other AAA game at the time)For me, I enjoyed Halo 5 for the multiplayer. I mean at first, it was quite stale with limited playlists. Warzone was probably one of the best new modes that I’ve enjoyed for a while (although people were still mad about the req system) and Breakout was heavily underrated for some reason. The movement system was fine for most people, although they were in a time where all shooters have to incorporate modern movement mechanics in their game. I think that most people got turned off from the missing content at launch.

But for me I stopped grinding when they released the weapon tuning update. That was because they heavily nerfed the BR, and now in any standard playlist everyone runs around with pistols, but its not like CE since there were no precision weapons besides the pistol and sniper. I still play every now and then, but more recently with the mythic playlist which I enjoy alot.

Thanks. The cat skin is called “pop art”, i might be wrong. …thought it was a Warhol reference.

I haven’t played in the past few months cuz I had no internet and then my Xbox broke, if they fixed it then yay, cuz that was a serious issue when I played

  • Magnum. I prefer H2 BR but i don’t like that magnum is better than any other rifle.
  • Aim System. There is something strange in the aim. Diagonal speed?
  • Sandbox: Some easy weapons (needler, bloltshot, etc) are too powerful compared to the difficulty of use.
  • Shorter shield and health waiting time.
  • Abilities: They broke the golden triangle. There are too many -Yoink!- when you’re in danger (evade a grenade with the thruster, run away). Some of them make power weapons too easy (stabilizer and sniper or sprint/thruster and sword/shotgun). Others make the dynamics too stupid and less skilled (spartan charge, ground pound).
  • Playlist menagement. I would like, as in the past, a differentiation between competitive (without abilities) and ordinary gaming (with abilities)
  • Art Style: i prefer H2A style.

False advertising. Change of gameplay mechanics. Master chief not entirely playable in the campaign, addition of microtransactions, making cortana a villain instead of letting her stay dead. Not going with the story halo 4 delivered. No playlists at launch. A few maps at launch.
Btb doesnt have developer made maps.
No forge at launch.
The weapon tuning which destroyed the br and the smg completely.

Personally after the updates the multiplayer is incredible, i really love how forge made awsome custom games and the abbility to easily search in the customs browser.
The campaign and its false advertising is still my biggest problem with halo 5.i expected a much more interesring game and cortana should have stayed dead.
