Why do people hate sprint?

I can’t understand why people hate sprint, it’s a faster way to get around the map, and it puts more pressure on the attacker to be accurate and finish a kill before someone tries to run away. So why the hate, is it just because is different from the classic mechanics?

From what I can gather, their problem is that the mechanic stretches map design essentially making sprint an illusion of speed.

It’s way more noticeable a problem on the PC version of MCC since you can adjust POV and games that used to feel slow like 3 feel way faster. However, sprint does feel like it works in Reach, but that’s just me.

It’s complicated, me personally I don’t like it because it makes the gameplay to fast when it needs to be slow because some things in halo play better when there slow. I would suggest you watch Chris Ray Gun on YouTube he has a video called (make halo great again) that somes up my thoughts.

I like it and I think it will help new Halo players get used to it.

Please use the search function, there are posts with 100s and thousands of replies explaining why sprint ruins or benefits halo. In short though it breaks the combat loop, changes map design, slows down gameplay.

I honestly don’t know since when sprint was secondly introduced in Halo 4 it was still slower than H2’s base movement speed alongside Halo 2 was supposed to have sprint but was cut due to time restraints although I understand the hate for Halo 5’s sprint since it was way faster than it needed to be causing bullets to have way more magnetism hurting slower paced custom games

The following tread has an in depth explanation of why that is. 230 pages right now to be precise! I don’t think we need yet another tread to discuss what was explained to death already!^^’

Have a good read my dear OP! I hope this explains why fans of the true Halo experience were so disappointed by H4, H5 and presumably Hi as well - sadly for us.

Halo Infinite is going to be an open-world game, so for the campaign I think sprint is okay. Halo 5 had more of a sprint/mobility problem than Halo 4 and Halo Reach in my opinion, and you can see why in Warzone or Warzone Firefight. The maps were pretty open, but you had to sprint everywhere if you didn’t want to be late to the fight, or spend a vehicle REQ to get there faster.

Sprint is hated because it ruins the Halo formula and doesn’t belong, you couldn’t sprint in Doom, Quake or Unreal and Halo should be no different.

I dont mind it. But sprinting is a lazy way for traversing the maps as a posed to the more interesting teleporters and man cannons. Something we havent seen since it was introduced. if 343 brought these elements back in I dont see the outcry over sprint being as deep

Let’s keep conversation contained in existing topics.
