I want to know why some people hate sprint so much in the newer halo games. I’ve played them all and when it was introduced in reach i was exploding with happiness, since sprint was so crucial in star wars battlefront 2. when i learned it would be a permanent built in ability in halo 4 i was so happy. I keep seeing post about people wanting spartans to be unable to sprint, but they never say why
I hate it when my wounded prey runs away from my line of sight.
Halo 5 did it right though.
I’m so -Yoinking!- glad there is no cool down anymore.feels great, like a spartan should.
I’m glad spartans are so mobile now. They actually feel like the augmented super humans they are. I liked the old halos but i always wished i could do more than just move at a walking pace.
I hate that it speeds up the gameplay. I hate that it pulls emphasis away from gunplay and toward mobility. I hate that being able to get right back in the action after a death removes the penalty for your misstep and leads to recklessness.

That’s all up to you in the end bud.
Because they aren’t talented enough to hit a faster moving target.
The reason why people hated sprint (I think) is because the traditional Halo games (1,2, and 3) we’re much more slow paced and it was focused more on teamplay, communication, etc… but with sprint, the game becomes alot faster paced and it alters alot of what people originally thought made Halo a good game.
I stopped using sprint all most all together, I don’t like not having my weapon ready to fire. K/D went up.

It also gives you a chance to correct your missteps and avoid death. Plus in the older halos it always felt like it was a stalemate mid-match, and that sprint eliminates this. I like that it’s no longer about just gunplay. Its also about being aware of your surroundings and watching your radar. Its about being clever with your moments and capitalizing on the small openings you get to move in and kill
I’m never gonna be able to play Halo 3 again. You move like a freaking turtle in that game.

I don’t like sprint because it makes gunfights less important at close ranges. People can literally just sprint at you while you are backing up and melee you while in Halo 2 and 3 people actually had to engage in a gunfight. Also sprint gives an illusion of faster paced gameplay, but in reality having 110% movement speed would be just as fast.
Some may ask: why do people hate Jar Jar Binks? It’s not 1977 anymore…
I can see both sides of that coin. And, apparently Halo 3 was created with a narrower field of vision but the same speed as Halo 2, thus it felt slower. Fire up a custom game with default settings, but bump player speed to 110 or 125%. It makes all the difference.

player speed in halo 4 was bumped to 110% the first year, and it makes the difference, but it made sprint feel that much better.
Sprint just completely changes the gameplay and not for the better. You say it speeds up gameplay, but in fact they just make the maps larger. There is a delay when trying to shoot after sprinting, so inevitably you sprint less to avoid this. Then you are stuck not sprinting on a large map. It really makes halo not enjoyable. The only time Reach was fun is when they made the mlg playlist without sprint or bloom. The population speaks for itself. This game will never reach/maintain the population of old Halo titles. It is what it is. Also, when people talk about copies sold, people purchase Halo because of its title alone. In the end, I have to look forward to backwards compatibility to enjoy HALO again.

large maps in halo 3 were barely tolerable when everyone’s in vehicles and you’re walking around like your legs are broken

On most large maps there were plenty of vehicles available. Like I stated before, in Halo 5 they made the maps even larger nullifying the “benefit” of sprint. If they want sprint in BTB or Warzone so be it.

yes they nullified it. That’s how you balance it in map design. otherwise it turns into call of duty.

If it is nullified, then why have it in the first place?

- It’s fun
- It makes so much more sense lore wise
- It adds additional choices and decisions to the game
- It adds a layer of player control and tactics
- It creates a much more immersive experience.I mean for pete’s sake, humans run. it’s what we do . why is it so weird or bad to make virtual humans do it too?
