Why do people care about the store?

Are you not aware that the one and only purpose of a game is to provide a fun experience? Since when did people start liking digital catalogs where you can drop huge sums of money on pixels that you won’t see in real life?

All these posts about being disappointed that the store doesn’t update daily or there’s not enough items to buy are so laughable to me. These guys care more about the fact that they can’t buy something instead of caring that basic features such as armor colors, armor pieces, and even visor colors are locked behind paywalls. No wonder Halo is in such an awful state, y’all would rather see new items in the shop instead of freedom to customize armor both in colors and shape.

LOL so, you want free cosmetics? Ribbing aside…

It’s been the case for some time now… Fortnite as an example.

I don’t think that is the case, however, 343 is a business and offering purchasable cosmetics is a revenue stream for them. So there will always be a paywall. The bigger issue for me is the pricing and mismanagement of the store items. (As an aside I would not consider cosmetics a basic feature of a game - playability would be on the top of that list for me.)

Everyone I’m sure would like the freedom to customize their armor. They can do that do a limited degree today. Ultimately more customization options may come. Time will tell.

Not all, but most companies have conditioned players to believe that cosmetics are more “important.”

Now if these companies would put the effort into the rest of the game as they do with monetization, there wouldn’t be an issue with this, but that’s not the case.

Because people like this exist to grovel at the feet of EA Games and other such developers???

I don’t care about the store at all and don’t care about coatings too to be honest but I understand people who want better customization or more customization or just want to paint their Spartans the way they want.

Well 343 was able to waste $500 million so I severely doubt money is a priority or a necessity for them

Most people get fun from making impractical purchases. You and I may not spend money on “pixels that you won’t see in real life,” but maybe we buy $10 Starbucks or $20 terrible 8" pizza at a football game. There’s no shortage of ways to waste money in life.

Your opinion, of course, but you should back up statements like that with facts, don’t you think?

Here’s your source you requested madam. Let me know if you need more of my services.

Again, a matter of opinion. In your opinion they WASTED 500 million. All that article does is report a source that ESTIMATES a spend of 500 million. An assertion, that article concludes as a “strong” rumor. Quote below.

“As usual with strong rumors like this, we would urge you to take the information with a pinch of salt until Microsoft makes the numbers official.”

So, again, no facts to back your statement up.

yeah but for now the game experience even not even " funny "

I’m with you OP. I’m here to play the game and try to have as much fun as possible. Try being the key word there.

I could roll with the standard armor and be happy. In fact, I am. I don’t need or want to buy anything in the store. I never visit the tab.

Because this game’s stuck with it and the least 343 can do is not make it suck.

I don’t really “care” about the store.

I’m just here to play Halo. And while there are still some key issues to iron out. All in all I’m having a lot of fun.

I have bought a few things from the store. No regrets. Not even the cat’s ears. So while I don’t “care”. It’s there. Serving it’s purpose.

And I’m actually surprised that I’ve taken more interest in colours and (particularly) armour with this game than all the other Halo’s combined.

People are disappointed because a lot of customization is restricted in halo infinite.
In previous halo titles you could customize the colors of your armor.
In halo infinite im restricted to buy a preset color scheme that works fo 1 armor. Lot of time the color scheme can only be purchased with a bundle of items that i dont want.
But i bought none of the color scheme from the shop, because there wasn’t a combination i was looking for.
If i could buy a “color wheel expansion” that gives me to possibiliy to customize the color scheme of every armor whenever and how often i want, i would buy it.

I think it’s partly conditioning, and tacit agreement that microtransactions are here to stay. I think cosmetics are the least harmful.

I suspect most who ask for improvements to the store also wish for customisation on par with previous Halo titles.

Ultimately you could make the argument that a lot of things people spend money on aren’t necessary. Different people want different things and will spend their money accordingly.

If everyone here created a list of everything they had purchased in the last week I bet most of us could question a number of the entries on those lists.

Rightly or wrongly people place value on how they and others appear. It is for that reason that the beauty and fashion industries exist. If people didn’t ascribe value to looks then clothes would all be designed with just function in mind, a Ralph Lauren polo shirt doesn’t DO anything a regular polo shirt doesn’t do.

We could extend this further. Cars, phones, food, drinks, homes, sports. There don’t NEED to be so many different kinds of all of these things, different people have different needs but how many options are present because of personal taste rather than need? Who NEEDS Coca-Cola to survive? No-one but enough people value it and so it has value.

This is one of the reasons games feature character creators and customisation options. Because this has value developers and publishers realise they can exploit that by selling players these options. To some people they might not matter but to others they do.

If anyone here is someone that only spends their money strictly on needs rather than wants I genuinely applaud them for not buying into an entirely artificial construct of value for non-essentials but equally I worry that their existence might be rather dull.

I like to play pretty pink dress up with my spartan doll, ok? I want to make him look HOT for a night out on the town. Is that so bad?

It costs money to look good

Most rational people realize the game isnt going to remove its only way of making a profit. So people at least want to have more options and variety.

Simple, since Halo 3 I’ve been able to play dolly dress up with my virtual spaceman. The multi-player armor designs and lore are my favorite parts of Halo. I care about the store because 343 decided it was going to use modern gaming trends to gimp my favorite part of the game so at the very least I want the store, since its not going away any time soon, to at least be as painless as possible.
