Does anybody know why? I think it’s kind of odd that so many people would be camping in a “Competitive” playlist.
It helps them win. It gets them kills with minimum damage to themselves. I don’t like it, but thats the way it goes.
It’s Slayer. In Slayer there is no reason to move from power positions except for power weapons - and they aren’t always spawning.
Its competitive.
It’s a legitimate strategy.
I couldn’t tell you, kills get you points and deaths barely do anything; so beats me.
When one team has map control and/or weapon control and they have the lead, there is no point risking that lead by moving away from strong map locations. The other team has to come to them for any chance of gaining the lead.

This.
Or they don’t want to be killed often, gaining more points for the season to be a higher division ranking.
Because Halo does not promote movement. Any game that rewards remaining put, falls short to games that overcome this flaw IMO.
In Halo, it is a constant fight to the most powerful position of the map with little incentive to move once a team has control. Those who exploit this flaw are not to blame. The fault lays on the shoulders of those who engineered a game that does not naturally promote movement.
Arena is the only playlist where winning makes a difference. The gametypes and maps allow players to make stagnant gameplay by camping. There is no reason to risk a loss when you control the flow of a map completely.
It bothers me when people think of ‘camping’ as such a negative thing. Ya hiding im area’s that are borderline out of map regions etc like the ledge in boardwalk, understandable. But when your just crouching and watching the area your in, completely fine. In a real battle you’d never go in guns a blazin and hope you don’t get hit. I personally don’t stay in one position unless I know for sure the person I killed didn’t see where I was.
Blame the DMR’s Range or Fire / it can shot across any arena map
Also its just kind of how Reach is played because if you crouch shoot = way less Bloom
It’s because Arena is very competitive. Everyone is trying to get an above 1500 rating, and to do that they just camp so they don’t die.

Its not camping - its called map control
Without jetpack you cant break it.
Now u know why people dont like jetpack - because it can
break map control / campning
And yes - camping (map contol) is “Competitive” !!!
> In a real battle you’d never go in guns a blazin and hope you don’t get hit.
In real life you dont have a 200 million mark 5 spartan armored powersuit shooting at aliens with alien weapons and lasers either lol XD “Map control” and “defending” etc = “better name for camping” thats all it is. I can still control the map and defend the objective. theyy just want that onyx rank so they can say they good at a game but it means you are as good as a person that bought halo 3 level 50 account. If you didnt earn it then it means nothing. Long story short, Get off your Yoink! and stop being a Yoink! and kick their Yoink! Oooh-Rah!
-You good friend Sgt Johnson
P.S. 343i did you just sensor my speech? I hope you didn’t that could look very bad. Listen tinker bell dont make me…
Because in real life people camp?
> > It’s a legitimate strategy… for noobs and snipers
Why would you say noobs, though? Players will abuse a map if they have to. It’s not like there is some kind of code of honor.
Smart players aren’t just going to risk their life and weapons to an enemy for nothing.

not real life =/= real life

lol then dont run into a squad of enemies and play smart lol on reflection i move around the map and take them out wisely. i dont need a corner. if i see a squad of enemies i stay way until i can get an advantage. the best players i see especially on 1v1 actually move around. the noobs sit in a lift room and wait for you to come to them its all the same in camping. so therefore you are saying camping is okay. then in that case are you okay with telling 343 to get rid of the kill boundaries on swordbase Alpha Zombies if you dont have a problem with camping? see you only agree when it works out for you lol. it doesnt have to be code of honor. a person that moves around the map, crouching and patrolling, constantly moving and every now and then stays in a spot when he sees an enemy coming at him or recharging his shields etc thats better then a guy that thinks “okay i have the shotgun now sit and wait” lol
