Why do people call Hologram useless?

I personally use it more than any other AA in Reach. It’s so rarely used that people don’t seem prepared for it. When I get into a fight where its about even, I always send it out and veer off to the side. Even if they only plant one shot into it, that’s all I need to give me an edge. You’d be surprised how many people will try punching it if you use it up close.

I don’t think it’s useless. I just find it difficult to pick as there are other good AA’s to choose from, which are usually more suited for the map/my play style.

But I do always have a lot of fun when I finally decide ‘to hell with it’ and use it

Well, I have never fell for Hologram, ever. So that’s why it seems useless to me.
I know you can fool many people, but I just prefer Sprint over anything else.
It also doesn’t work with my gameplay, I like to shoot one on one and not things like sneaking and fooling your enemy.

So yeah, I don’t think it’s useless at all, but it is for my style of play.

It’s much more tactical than say Sprint. I prefer sprint, because I like being able to get around the map more quickly. When I do use hologram it’s very satisfying to fake someone out with it. Especially if that fakeout leads to you assassinating them. >:) One of my best friends is flat out nasty with some hologram. It works especially well if he’s throwing out holograms while I’m using active camo. It’s much easier to fool people with the radar scramble on.

Same reason they think the AR is useless. Because they don’t know how to use it.

Hologram would have been alright, but like the AR, everything else beats it out of being a viable ability.
Maybe with your reticle actually turning red on an enemy hologram, you might be able to fool people this time around.

I find it good on the likes of Countdown were its close quarters and if someone is coming around the corner at you, and it also depends on the skill level of the other player.

I don’t think it’s useless, but I never had much reason to use it. If it lasted longer, and if it could imitate flags…
