Why do males have female characters?

so I’m a female gamer, I have a female character on reach for obvious reasons which is why I notice it more often. Why do loads of guys set their characters to female? I’m not complaining it’s just something I’m curious about! It’s just I’ll be in game chat on say the MLG Playlist playing with a bunch of female characters but they’re guy players so?

Thanks c:

With some it’s a preference (for whatever reason…that’s their own business and I don’t wanna know), with others they’re just doing it cuz YOLO, and some might think Females have smaller hitboxes (which isn’t true because it’s just the male model sucked in in a couple of spots, they’re the same height and their armor is the same size).

Originally that’s what I thought, smaller hit boxes but as you said it’s not true…

I do it on Reach and 5, I think some of the armor looks better on female spartans.

I’m not gonna lie, sometimes I switch over to female just for the Mjolnir booty in the cutscenes.

But I do like strong female characters in games. It’s just that in this particular game, it’s the booty.

I know MLG guys who say it gives smaller hitboxes.

Well, you can tell him that he is wrong.

That’s a fair enough reason!

Two notable somewhat weird reasons this occurs…

  1. Sound FX
  2. Booty

And no, I play as a male. Some say people who choose to fulfil the above two points are because they are perverted…

If nobody understands well just visit any ME or F3, FNV or F4 discussions regarding why males choose to play as females…

All depends on preference. I, for one, make my Spartan male 95% of the time. But when I get bored, I’ll change the gender up and put another armor set on, and play around as a “new character” before switching back to my main character.

Really? Well, it would be unfair to give females a smaller chance of being twisted.

What other people say it’s because of hitboxes, or just to troll people most of the time. But I’m not all that sure really, you got to ask them really.

Well if you play noble 6 as a female character the game can pass the Bechdel test. Also it’s the only time you can play a campaign as a female. Also it balances out the gender count of noble team better. Also it’s nice to think that there was a female that was similar to the MC. In MP it’s often all males so I figure why not. Also armor pieces look bigger on females.

In Reach, 4, and 5 I’ve always had a male Spartan without thinking about it much. It’s not like Warcraft with dudes playing as some scantily clad female elf character. The female Spartan is maybe shorter and slightly thinner, but otherwise I don’t notice much difference.

A friend of mine uses the female Spartan all the time claiming he likes cause the form is smaller and harder to hit.

Because yolo

It depends on the armor set and game. When I play Reach … well, I use two accounts and have two Noble 6’s … one of them is male and wears Mark V and looks like Chief in Halo CE. The other is Female and wears Operator.

In Halo 4, I like Air Assault but I think it looks the best on a female Spartan. Same with Recon. Recon in Halo 4 in my opinion looks great on a female Spartan.

I also like to think of Noble 6 as a female because if not, Noble Team is a bit of a sausage fest. Especially compared to Osiris or Blue Team. And yeah, I’m aware that canonically he’s a dood, but when I play the game, Noble 6 is often a female … diversity, I suppose.

Point is, I mix it up. Basically, of my two accounts, one (this one) has male Spartans, usually wearing Mark V or VI armor. The other is mostly female in Reach, Halo 4 and Halo 5, and wears Air Assault, Operator, and Recon. And it has nothing to do with hitboxes or gender identification. It has to do with having an imagination and playing through things like Spartan Ops trying to immerse yourself in the minds of different characters you’ve created in your head.

I stick with my gender if both don’t have special abilities so I use a male character.

I say that because when I played Metal Slug 7 I always picked the same female character because of his perk.

People should stick with their gender or else I’m gonna use he or she based on the in-game character, yep I found people slightly complaining about that "I’m a boy ! " lol

Parts of armor don’t move between genders, some look so bad on females.

They’re insecure, or they’re not good enough at Halo to play as their own gender. Playing as your own gender, male or female, should be the only thing done. I play as a male because I am one.

I have no clue what that’s supposed to mean.

And when you say “Playing as your own gender, male or female, should be the only thing done” does that mean I can’t play Mirror’s Edge and my wife can’t play Mario?

I’m talking about games in which you choose what gender you play as. Not game’s where there’s a base protagonist. Such as Uncharted, or Tomb Raider. What I mean is, some people play as a female to avoid getting hit, therefore they aren’t good enough to play the game normally, as their actual gender, male.
