why do i suck

Anyone willing to help me i suck at halo i just want to get better i have been playing for 1.5 months and have a kd of 0.36 i keep ending last on the game everytime all me a noob im okay with that but please any help

Just be patient and stick with it. You’ve only been playing the game for six weeks? It took me six weeks just to learn how to run without looking down all the time. It also helps if you have friends who play the same game and who can walk you through some basics. If you don’t have any real life friends who play Halo then send friend requests to the people you play with - some of them will accept and then you’re off and running. Best of luck!

We’re going to need some more information here to help you out. For starters:
What do you play?
What weapon(s) do you primarily use?

All i can say is always use a br and practice a good unpredicable strafe that will catch people off guard

I can give you tons of help. I went from being an average 1.0 kd in H3 to being a 3.0 kd in H4/MCC. First off, which Halo games are you playing and which gametypes? Some general tips below.

  1. Learn to use the BR. In every game, this is the most important gun to have at all times. If you have loadouts, this is your primary. If you don’t spawn with one, find one.
  2. Shoot every enemy in sight. Assists help even if you can’t get kills.
  3. Don’t start a fight you can’t win. Back off if you know you’ll lose and wait for a teammate to help.
  4. Fewer deaths > more kills. This is the most important thing to keep in mind at all times. ESPECIALLY in Slayer.
  5. Learn the maps, spawns and areas to go and areas to avoid.
  6. If you aren’t good with a weapon like the sniper, don’t pick it up. Let your teammates use it while you learn the basics. Only exception is to take them if you’re the only one who can keep it out of enemy hands.
  7. High ground is always better than low ground.
  8. Learn to nade trap. This is when you throw a grenade right at the feet of where you know an enemy will be when it detonates. Combine this with a BR headshot for really fast kills.

One of the most important things is to learn the maps. As you get better you’ll find yourself being able to keep an eye on the radar as well as do all the normal stuff. Once you can tie those dots on the radar to where exactly someone is on a map (this is where the map knowledge is key), THAT’s when you can start really outplaying your opponents. A lot of success comes from awareness. Aim / grenade timing and strafing will come naturally in time, focus on learning the maps first and increasing your awareness of the game.

This is my fun tag, add me.

Personally if you honestly want good feedback on what you are doing wrong, sign up for twitch and stream from your Xbox. People can give you advice all day long, if you don’t get to SEE someone play and move to give feedback, they’ll only fixing 1/3 of the problem. The majority of most people’s problems is how they move around the map and also fail to understand what is going on around them.

BR live it and love it.
Sensitivity should be 3-4, I don’t care what other say, this is the highest % for a reason. If you find yourself getting shot in the back too much, see reason for streaming above. You have to learn how to NOT put yourself into those situation as often.
Use the motion tracker but don’t LIVE OFF IT! You should only be using that’s about 1/5 of the time in game.
Running away to live to fight another day is a good beginner strat, gets shots on a target, call him out and back down if you think you are going to lose

Keep calm, just relax. High stressed out players get way too twitchy and miss way too many shots.

Put your mic in and use it, this makes you instantly better. Also, ASK QUESTION!!! Don’t believe what most people on these forums say, if you ask the majority will help you. It’s these teenie bopers giving Halo gamers a bad name. I’ve walked many players through the CE basics. It’s amazing how many people don’t know the three basics to the game in CE. Duck when you fall as you land to absorb dmg (practice), Reload->Reload->Change Weapon (weapon reloads on your back), CE is about getting the pistol out and shots on target, not so much grenades. Timing, double melee, and spawn system is WAY TO complex if players don’t get 1-3. Baby steps.

Don’t bother playing Halo 3, it’s complete crap on MCC

Best advice I can give, play with the BR only, no grenades, nothing else. Force yourself to get better and shooting. Grenades are a massive handicap in this game. If you learn how to play without them you’ll became amazingly better when you start using them.

I disagree on sensitivity and halo 3. I play on ten simply because its comfortable and because of how quickly I can turn. With that said, sensitivity preference comes down to the specific individual. Also Halo 3 really isn’t bad. I went back and played it on 360 recently, and its basically the same.

It seems this guy is very, very new to the game.

Even with this helpful advice people are giving you remember this: You may know the info, but you don’t “know it”. What I mean by this is that it will take a lot of time to really apply this advice to yourself. Good players do all this like its muscle memory, they don’t think it they just do it. Don’t get disheartened when you try this stuff out and you don’t improve quickly, because you won’t. Just keep at it and relentlessly practice.

Yea, and you don’t tell someone new to the game to play on anything higher just so they can turn around. If you had to put a number on it less then 5% use anything over 7. This is based off the dozens of gamers lets say 30 locals.

(2) 1-2
(25) 3-5
(2) 6-7
(1) 8-10

Of the good players out of that list, only 1 is outside the 3-5

The vast majority of people playing on 3-5. I play on 4. There is zero benefit to playing anything past about 6. The ability to spin like a top doesn’t make up for missing a bullet here and there with your BR bursts because your sensitivity is too high. On a PC with a mouse it’s fine, but controllers are a different story. You can play whatever you like, but it’s very good advice for new players to suggest staying between 3 and 5.

As for H3…speak for yourself. It’s unplayable for me. Atrocious lag every game, entire mags emptied for minimal damage. Headshots almost never work. It’s unbearable. All the other games are fine.

I didnt tell him to play on anything higher I said I played on 10, I couldn’t care less about his sensitivity.

I think the best advice is to play this game a stupid amount of time. Srs. Practice makes perfect, and try not to get down on MCCs bad connections. They can also play a part in your losses.

Bad practice makes bad players. If you only try to master the art of spraying an AR and suicide sticking people you won’t become a good player.

use Theatre mode to see what youre doing wrong, or what some players are doing correct. Id say i usually see the lesser skilled players fighting IN battle instead of AROUND the battle. stay about 10-15ft from a team mate at all times, the screen will indicate if he is being fired at, stay attentive to that.

most of all dont run straight into battle over and over, cause most folks arent. The goal isnt to get as many kills as possible each life, its to get as little deaths. stay patient with each respawn, analyze what is going on at a few parts of the map, then see how you fit into any of the messes you analyzed.

There was a similar topic from another individual recently. A lot of people offered their ideas on how to get better at Halo (including myself). There’s some pretty good advice in there and a lot of the posts are worth a read. Maybe something there will help you out.

Here’s the link to it:
