Kodiaks can be SO GOOD in mid-game scenarios when you’re up against infantry blobs. Splash damage just mutilates enemy formations, and you can defend them against air attack easily enough with Wolverines. That leaves only Warthogs and maybe Marauders as a real threat. They’re also really good when your opponent tries to turtle with turrets. Upgrade those turrets all you want, but they’re useless if your enemy can shoot them from ultra-long range and said turrets can’t shoot back.
I pretty much never see someone make an effort to use them, and whenever I use them my enemy tends to be caught off-guard. Not saying you should use them in every game (not a great choice against Anders, for one), but I wish people would use them more. Maybe it’s just because I’m in low-Platinum, and the Kodiaks see more use in higher tiers.
Because the situations in which they excel, they are too slow to set up and lack mobility to disengage from any situation. The only times I’ve ever really used them are on Vault to break enemies who are turtled up. Put an infantry squad in the tower outside their main base and let Kodiaks shell their turrets/buildings. It’s also a decent way to wither away Banished shields if they are hiding under them.
Apart from those select situations, it’s even more limited in use considering that’s really a Forge-only thing with his Kodiak Drop ability.
Long story short, too situational to be seen frequently.

There’s one leader who I’ve found that excels with kodiaks and that is Serina, for if you couple them with the Ice-Cream Truck they are fantastic, especially on the map Bedrock. If you spawn on the dirt-looking side, just pump out the ICT asap and then drive it over to the enemies mini-base which overlooks one of the bases. Simply from there lock down, build kodiaks from the mini-base and just watch the enemy quit. you can practically spawn kill any unit they make and if they start pumping cyclops’ just make snipers.
It’s cheap but effective.

ehhh not so much so, I fiddled with the strategy and I usually make them within an army of say 8 wolvs, snips and cyclops’. I’ll push up with the main army but have the Kodiaks slightly behind and they just give that extra firepower to win most engagements.

I mean more of the only time kodiaks are truly useful is with serena lol
I had 3 Kodiaks on my base and an enemy Scorpion just took the damage like it was nothing. They are good against infantry, and practically nothing else. I still enjoy using them as Anders so that each attack spawns a temporary sentinal on the enemies, it’s really fun. Lending my Kodiaks to defend allied bases is a nice gesture to my teammates and it’s makes me feel good. Despite Kodiaks not doing the best damage to vehicles, combing them with Anti-vehicle and Siege turrets easily discourages enemy attacks and can really help, but on their own, don’t use them to substitute for Siege Turrets because they are just not as effective.
It’s sad because this was my favorite new unit when the game first came out. But then they got nerfed, then buffed, then nerfed, then you realized the Blisterback is 1,000x better.
The need to drive faster imo. I like the idea of setting up traps or chokepoints but it seems to be unrealistic for me most of the times. But I’m a scrub at the game.

I tend to prefer slower deathball pushes, which is where those siege weapons can excel. Put them nearby an enemy base and watch them shell the hell out of the enemy.

If you can build Kodiaks by then, your enemy can build hornets too.

Your enemy’s Shrouds might have a few words about this.
