Why do I have to play by myself to progress?

Problem

I play halo with friends. 4V4 most nights since launch.

I purchased the battlepass which I advance through by completing challenges.

Half of my challenges put me in a single player only mode. If I don’t complete them all of my challenges put me in this mode. Then I can only gain 50xp per match to advance through the battlepass I purchased……UNLESS I GO SOLO.

Why do I have to leave my friends to complete single player challenges?

SOLUTION:
I suggest 343i make challenges and rewards playlist specific. At the very least, remove single player only challenges from rotation.

Opinion
This is the worst thing in halo at the moment. Worse than ANYTHING else in this game. A multiplayer with a single player focus. I’m flabbergasted at how no one thought this would be a problem. I super irritated

Why do I have a challenge to complete 4 LSS matches, get told I can leave and challenges will still progress when I get back to the lobby, to only have them not progress?

Oh, you mean I have to stay the WHOLE match and spectate it to it’s completion for the challenge to complete?
Even though the game told me progress would be saved for challenges?
Do they not play test or

To be fair - I had this but shut the game down and reopened it and it then worked fine when leaving. Think this is a bug

Otherwise I’m with you

It happened to all of my friends as well, think this is fairly common based on my personal experience and nothing solid or scientific XD

I love the way you structured this question! It’s such a good way to say that there’s a disconnect between the battle pass challenge system demands you play vs actually playing with friends.

Yeah mine does the same but I figured out if you spectate the next match it all gets added back in. The main problem is if you completed a challenge the previous match you won’t progress in the new challenge because it hasn’t registered yet. Why does it feel like after 6 months we are still in beta testing?

Cheers bud. Yeah this is my biggest gripe at the moment. I’ve actually stopped playing for the time being too; it’s just not fun anymore.

I’m sure they’ll address the issues eventually, but until then I feel it’s probably best putting the game down and playing something that’s in a better state.

Rogue company for me until further notice

This season is all about lone wolves, not playing with friends.

Because every time they add a new mode, it is Beta testing.

343 doesn’t use their Insiders program appropriately.

This is one thing I think Rare got right with Sea of Thieves. Their Insiders program is open to everyone and they let all Insiders play the pre-release builds. They even encourage people to play the pre-release builds by offering them in game rewards (coatings, etc.) for the full release game. This allows for constant Beta testing without the negative affects on the full release game.

What a great decision for a multiplayer arena FPS

It’s because the game needed more time in the oven before release.

You can play with friends and still progress.

Dailies progress regardless of playlist or gametype or weapons used or points earned.

Not very fun getting a blanket offering of XP every game though is it.

Get a 50 kill perfection? Here’s 50xp.
Die 50 times? Here’s 50xp.
Get a wingman? Here’s 50xp.
Clutch a win and move up to Onyx? 50xp
Go put the kettle on and miss the first enemy flag cap? 50xp

It’s simply pointless. Satisfaction wise it is as good as receiving nothing

They will progress when the game finishes because the code is baked like that.

Start the game and jiggle your mouse every minute or so while cleaning the house and doing dishes? here’s 50xp

I don’t play on PC - but if I put the controller in my pants I can get all of the housework done!
