Some people enjoy being -Yoinks!-… although, I don’t do it to randoms, I always kill my friends.
Ok, for some reason the URL didn’t work in the quote…
Because of online matchmaking.
lol, maybe he was daltonic and see you in RED.

that is a rule, kill your friends when you are in social or in custom games lol.
in HALO 1 we play cooperative and when our ammo was low we kill each other to refuel (one at the time)

When I got the “Spartan Birthday” armor effect unlocked for the first time on Reach, one of my friends was like “You know I’m never going to stop betraying you now right?” because we loved hearing that ‘horraaaaay!’ sound and the burst of confetti.
A little team killing between friends never hurt anyone right?
But, there is a time and a place for it of course, as with all things in life and Halo.

Lol, that’s what my brother and I have been doing since CE came out on the OG Xbox
As soon as we ran out of ammo we’d kill the other person.
Or in Halo 3 we’d kill one of us over and over so that there was a stockpile of 'nades. Then we’d toss one and the middle so they’d all go off
All this talk reminded me of a BTB game on Reach…
We were playing on Boneyard. All but two people quit off the enemy team, and we were a long ways from reaching the winning score. Most of our team had mics even though only a few of us were actually in a party together, and around this point we were so bored trying to track down the last guys (or guy for the last five minutes since two of the three remaining also quit) that we just started betraying each other. Many of us had at least five betrayals each and our score was quickly reaching zero. Unfortunatley, one of our team did not have a mic, and apparently did not get the memo of us having given up on finishing the game and just having a Betrayal Party until the timer expired.
It was fun while it lasted though, and we all had a lot of fun - except for the guy who didnt have a mic and promptly booted anyone who betrayed him (Accidental or otherwise). Most of the original party ended up partying together for a few games after that, and the fun continued for a while longer. Good times.
As you can see this days matchmaking sucks. So blame the game not the gamers.
Don’t let it get to you OP. I know easier said than done. There will always be yoinks that do this kind of thing. Just report them for unsportsmanship and move on. Friends doing it to other friends for fun, is ok to me, as long as everyone is having fun.

People have been doing things like this for as long as Online gaming was a thing. You’d be blaming a loooot of games for the problems immature players cause in that case.
Happens in Fire Fight quite a lot lately…
