So it’s your chance to be yourself without consequences? Turns out you’re entirely selfish.
Find a squad and this issue goes away real fast… or just keep begging on a dying forum, it’s your choice.
…in a video game. Yeas, you are absolutely right. ![]()
Well at least you’re honest about it.
Since the first isn’t really possible, I’m stuck with option 2 for now.
The forums are running out of time, you should start searching for players who can be available for you whenever you are playing. If your other countrymen aren’t available, you will have to reach out to other areas of the world, either through Discord, Looking for Groups, etc.
You don’t want quitting to be punishable at all, right?
I want an effective and suistainable solution. I stated absolutely right, that a guy quitting affects your rank. But getting the guy banned doesn’t change a thing. So why is it implemented in the first place? To give affected players the feeling of revenge and punishment? “HUH, at least you got banned and can’t play for 10 minutes. No I feel better about my lost CSR”. That’s complete BS. ![]()
So we should not punish murderers because the victims are already dead so long as we think they probably won’t keep doing it?
It called a deterrent. Used in every society for a wide range of reasons. It’s supposed to modify people’s behaviour because of the implied threat.
For Social playlists, I agree. There isn’t anything on the line except pride and fun.
For Ranked, some players work really hard for that specific Rank so they can show off their skill. So if players quit there, I think they should just be banned from Ranked for a little while. Social playlists is where those types of players should be playing.
All reasonable advice. I’m definitely not going back to playing high ping games in other regions. I could definitely try and add any Australians on this site but it’s likely a very short list in the first place, then you need to filter for comparable skill level and I usually play at ‘off peak’ times so getting many of them online at a time useful to me is quite unlikely.
Works great in the states, huh?![]()
What a low crime rate you have over there. Especially for murders ^^
Just look at the game: is banning people effective? Do you experience quitters? Are you annoyed by them? Do people care if they are banned? It is a system foredommed to fail.
To continue the real world analogy. Would you feel safer if they just suddenly stopped punishing violent crime? I doubt it.
Arguing that there might be better ways to combat a particular undesired behaviour is great but you need to have a viable plan and the time/resources to get it implemented. I do think 343i should be using more incentives to keep people in games and focusing less on the punishment aspect.
That’s all longer term goals. For now they need to do whatever they can with their current mechanisms to keep the highest percentage of their player base online and happy. That can involve temporarily removing players and risking them leaving altogether, if they are damaging the play experience for others.
If the punishment is the death penalty like I mentioned: yes. In fact I do, living in a country/on a continet without having the death penalty. But to not get further into politics: I was just trying to say that punishment often is the least viable solution.
6 years. (7 and a half if you count since release). Every even half serious game designer would have told you the exact outcome with this system.
Absolutely agree. But the fact 343 never even adressed the issue as an issue is baffeling… and will contribute to the death of the franchise. So I circle back to my firts post in the thread:
The only solution is to shut down the company for good or take away the franchise from them and give it to real game developers.
I agree with pretty much all of your last post although I’m slightly more optimistic on 343i’s chances of getting things back on track. Emphasis on slightly.
I just get annoyed when people want to be able to quit games freely without showing any consideration for the enjoyment of other people playing the game. So long as people think like that, there needs to be systems in place to try and control that behaviour.
Happy to debate the merits of how best to achieve that or whether 343i should already have better tools in place.
Well, we had such threads plenty of times and solutions were presented. But since 343 decided to shut down their on forum, I don’t see any sense list them all again. They clearly stated they are not intersted. Not that they even read their on forum before but well… it was easier to denie. But shutting it down is such a clear gesture of showing their customers the finger, I’m not intersted anymore.
I’m sure there are plenty of good ideas out there. And fingers crossed at least some of them make their way to 343’s desk.
And we all know that a match composer of some sort is way overdue.
But that’s irrelevant to the here and now. What we have is the system in place. You know what maps and modes could come up when you hit that play button.
I get that your time has value. But so does everyone elses. And it seems pretty selfish to soak up everyone else’s time and effort but then not repay the favour when the time comes.
Maybe I was just brought up in a different time. Finish what you start etc.
Some people may leave the game because they can’t quit. And some may up end up leaving the game because people quit on them. I know which group I would rather keep.
Sadistic with a tone of friendliness… the scariest type…low pop banning players instead of listening to them… headed for a crash course!
Was about to say… Harder bans will just push people to not play all together. If you get banned, just go play something else and let Infinite die faster.
I can take on Spartan level bots ( 3 or 4 at a time ) by myself lol… They’re not hard…
Then we report you with the report feature in game
First is actually entirely possible, you’re just lazy lol. Maybe a little socially awkward online, but there are plenty of options when it comes to trying to find new people to bring into matches out there.
If a game requires you to get a group to play while telling you you can search by yourself, than its not a good game
