Note: I love Halo 5. This post isn’t a critique, but more of an open question for curiosities sake.
Each Halo since Halo 2 has had big changes in game mechanics, and I am just wondering why? I get that Halo can’t be stagnant as a franchise when we have computational power increasing and other games taking advantage, but why such big changes each game?
So the point I am getting to is that why can’t 343i buck the trend, and for once have a Halo that doesn’t change so much?
- Halo: CE (the original) - Halo 2 (No more Halo: CE pistol, adds dual-wielding and introduces BR) - Halo 3 (Adds deployable items, projectile weapons) - Halo: Reach (Armor Abilities, removal of dual wielding, Covenant weapon overhaul, UNSC weapon overhaul, Assassinations) - Halo 4 (Sprint, Semi-Reversal of UNSC overhaul, Semi-Reversal of Covenant overhaul, Forerunner weapons) - Halo 5 (Removal of AA, Introduction to Spartan Abilities, overhaul of all weapons, mini-map change) - Halo 6 (???)Halo 5 is a good Halo game IMO and, honestly, it is on the edge of no longer being that. The sprint debate thread is one example of how some already feel Halo 5 is too different mechanically. So would we want the next Halo to change too much?
