The Sangheili and Unggoy look different now in terms of skin colour, voice, and appearance in general. Are these other species within the rogue covenant forces? Or is this just 343’s design of the covenant?
I don’t know a lot about the design of the game, hopefully there’s a discussion behind this.
They just changed what they looked like.
Nanobots.
They are not from the Covenant anymore
We are playing Halo 4, different engine and all.
> Nanobots.
I enjoyed this response.
It’s just 343i’s interpretation on the design and some nice graphics. Not everything needs to be explained canonically; appreciating the design for what it is is much easier.
That being said, the nanobot joke made me chuckle.
They are faction of Sangheili loyalists, known as the Storm Covenant; this group is intensely hostile to humans, breaking the truce formed at the end of the initial war with the Covenant.
Their goal is to find a powerful weapon on Requiem whether that be the actual Forerunner (Didact) or if they where actually looking for something else like some sort of weapon who knows, where as the other Covenant where looking for what they believed to be “The Path or Great Journey” what ever the hell you want to call it which led them to the next part of life joining their Gods the forerunners which infact where the Halo weapons which would destroy all life in the galaxy.
so what your seeing the difference in armour, color etc would be what sets them apart from the other covenant in the previous halos games, they are all the same species etc just with little differences to set them apart
there is alot more to it than just that but if you want to read up on any of it look here

Jul mdama’s covenant are different (not species) but different races of the old covenant species.
minus brutes and drones
But the Brutes have “The Banished”, as well as several smaller factions.

I believe “time constraints” was the excuse given for that. The Arbiter and his elite faction SHOULD look like classic elites, but they don’t because that wasn’t a development priority for Halo 5 I guess.
aren’t they different species
different art style?

One word: Phenotypes.
I think it’s more art style than it is different species.
It’s just 343’s take on the design.
Honestly, I prefer the Bungie grunts and jackals compared to the new, but the new elites are definitely my favorite.
It’s a different art style, 343 tired to make a lore excuse about the design change. Some of 343’s art work is good and others not so much. I personally think 343 should combine their art with bungies and see which designs cater to both new and old fans alike.
They look different because of what region they came from on their homeplanets(The elites look and sound more stupid) (And grunts look ugly)

Please don’t revive very old topics thanks
