Why do bosses gain their life back?!?!

It’s not Knights or Soldiers with Watchers healing them. It’s Hunters, and Banshees, and Ghosts, and Wraiths. Why do they gain their life back in WZFF? The bullet sponge is so bad in the gamemode. It makes it not fun to play. That seems like such a simple thing to not do, especially when the gamemode is already so heavily reliant on bullet sponge bosses to “increase difficulty”. God 343i piss me off.

I can understand the prometheans because of watchers, but the covenant’s health gain eludes me.

Unless the Convenant has some Promethian repair thing on them.

First, relax. Have you considered the difficulties of the bosses? Have you also considered that maybe these bosses require more firepower to have an effect on their health? And have you not considered that you or your teammates need to call out reqs for more firepower? This is a simple problem. But if the Covenant bosses have regenerating health, you need to put it in the WZFF Feedback thread. Unless it was implemented for who knows what reason (doubt it).

Maybe they have health regens from h3?

Well, Spartans gain their health back when they’re shields recharge, and playable elites on Reach got their health back when recharged as well so maybe they’ve always had it except in H5 FF it’s just useless

I can go and fetch the gameplay if you would like me to. Round 2 on Apex 7. 2 Banshee Raiders. One of them we got down to about 60% life, I got stuck by an elite that got me from long range with a grenade stick (annoying as well) and when I came back the Banshee not only had it’s shields back, but all of it’s life as well.

I understand that giving life back for not shooting at it for a while is a decent mechanic to require consistent fire from the player. But that it what shields are for. Life should stay where it’s at.

Yes, this gets very annoying and it doesn’t make much sense either.

People here keep saying it is the watchers repairing them. Sure, watchers can heal them, but that is never the problem I am having. The Mantis waves are especially bad. I can spartan laser a mantis and it’s health(Not shields) will completely regenerate before I am able to fire the second shot from the spartan laser. I have seen this with wardens where they will only have a sliver of life left and will regenerate to either a quarter or half health if not shot at for 5 seconds. The early phaeton rounds are nightmares if people don’t have 4+ Reqs simply because they boost behind cover and regenerate up to a quarter of their health. The Banshee wave on Urban does this and it is horrid. Bosses SHOULD NOT regenerate health on their own, especially mechanical bosses. The Mantis waves need some sort of fix as they are absurdly hard if the waves leading up to them don’t grant enough req levels.

I’ve only had to say this a million times, but vehicles can regenerate their health. It doesn’t matter what it is, be it a banshee or a warthog. Also you might wanna make sure you saw hunter’s getting their health back, that’s something I’m not sure about.

No, I know what he’s talking about, here’s an example you fight the banshee raiders on Apex 7, take one banshee’s health down to half and go to a req station to get some more ammo, when you get back in the field both banshees are at full health meaning you just spent 2.5 minutes shooting at an enemy that isn’t going to die.

Pay attention when a round starts.

If Palmer says “they’re using promethean tech” that’s a good sign that those bosses may have regenerating health.

I feel like I’ve seen both Hunters and Elites gain their life back, but I’m going to assume that you are right. I still don’t think that it’s a good excuse for only vehicles to gain their life back. If anything, that would make even less sense as our vehicles don’t gain life back, but our Spartans do. I think that 343i need to fundamentally rethink WZFF as a whole. The way that they have created this iteration, it is not fun. It is tedious and frustrating. Bullet sponge bosses that have horrible AI are not fun to fight. Over half of the REQ pool is completely useless (basically all of the weapons) because of how much damage they put out and how much life the bosses have. It is so clearly an attempt to try to get you to buy REQ packs, it’s painful. For the first time in Halo 5 I am actually running out of the weapons and vehicles that I want to use, and they have so fully oversaturated the sandbox with garbage that my chances at getting what I want are extreamly low. If I want to use an ONI Warthog I have no choice but to shell out a couple bucks to buy a couple silver packs, and I will never do that, so Warzone is dead to me now. It’s sad.

Worst boss for this is the set of mantises. If you stop shooting them for a second or two, they instantly gain full shields and a second or two later full health. So stupid. Not to mention how unrealistic strong they are for mantises, even the phantom bosses are weaker than them.

Bravo said they are reworking the more tedious boss fights. I hope the mantises are one of them, and hopefully the 3 wardens.

I definitely agree with you about how poorly balanced WZFF is, but I think you misunderstood me about vehicles regenerating health. I meant that ALL vehicles can do it, whether they are controlled by an AI, player, or just unoccupied.

Yes shields recharge, but so does their health. That’s what OP is frustrated about.

Nano machines. That’s it, it’s all about Nano machines.

This isn’t for all bosses, but for most, they have these ‘health checkpoints’ meaning once you take out about a quarter then their health will stay their. If you do too little damage they’ll heal it and if you take out a little more than a quarter then they’ll heal back up to 3/4s health. Although, yeah it is kinda lame that they regen health.
