Why didn't they just release Halo 5 in full on the PC and expand from there?

I agree with this, it would be good. Or as suggested, added on to the MCC, if possible.

I was lured from Nintendo, to the X-Box in 2002, because of Halo. It is the game I have spent the most time on since. Upgrading to the 360 for 1,2,3 and 4, then X-Box One for 5, yadda, yadda. Doing the MCC challenges, I have been right back into 3 and ODST. I am really enjoying it. It’s almost like I forgot how good they were while grinding away on 5 ( still only at 148 ) You could definitely tell that 4 and 5, were made by a different company. I was OK with both, I know a lot weren’t. Ground pound and sprint never bothered me as much as only having 3 levels of Halo 5 as the Chief. Someone in another thread, suggested it be called the ‘Locke Collection’. I also posted in another thread, that I reckon the grappleshot is one of the biggest game changers. In the games of BTB that I have managed to squeeze in ( very busy farming ) , vehicles are almost useless now. EMP weapons and the grappleshot have turned me into a sitting duck. If you haven’t already checked it out, the speedrunners are now using the grappleshot to shred the campaign. Combining vehicles and fusion cores with the grappleshot, they are going superman and also busting outside the map everywhere.

I certainly agree with this.

Quote - ’ I like Infinite as a starting point ’ That probably is a good summation.
MY OPINION - Where I feel let down is tearing the game in half. MP separated from Campaign, I think that was part of what you were getting at with ‘fully released games’ and rumours of DLC to expand the campaign.
As well, for many, the monetisation system, coupled with FOMO. I won’t be spending money in the store. When I see a flower and teddy for $20.42 AUD I just shake my head.

I am 100% with you here. These aspects are definitely disappointing to me. I think Infinite would be a much better game if the multiplayer wasn’t Free2Play, and the store wasn’t egregious (preferably not even there and you had to earn that hayabusa armor like in the old days in what I recognize to be my unreasonable opinion).
It is just downright silly that you can buy entire games, some that are not even on sale for the prices of these cosmetics. I just booted up steam and sorted by top selling and set the price to 20 dollars. Do you know what popped up? Nier Automata, GTAV, Dying Light, Hunt Showdown, Valheim and even more. These games are fantastic so even if they were to create the best looking cosmetic ever that was just a feast for the eyes, I would rather buy the wholeass game for my 20 bucks.

Ultimately though I’ve had to learn how to accept these things because if I didn’t, there would be no multiplayer games for me to play. When I look at the popular multiplayer titles that released this year, Infinite is the only one that I enjoyed playing. BF 2042 is just a hot mess and quite frankly I cannot play vanguard as i’m too busy cringing at the Tommy Gun with a half inch barrel, skeleton grip, foregrip right under the muzzle (Ouchies) with hybrid optical sight and a pink zebra camo.
Infinite’s moment to moment gameplay is enjoyable for me and ultimately that’s good enough for me to say that I like the game

Okie dokie then

halo 5 did launch in a polished state, though halo 5’s flaws are intrinsic to the game. bugs can be fixed, theres no fixing halo 5’s dreadful campaign.

as for launch content, its a toss-up.
halo 5 launched with 3 warzone maps, 2 forged arena maps, 4 unique arena maps with 3 remixes (the same maps with small environmental differences) and 5 breakout maps, which were all aesthetically the same map but with minor differences in layout.

I would say halo 5’s true map count is 10, with 3 of those being forged maps.

both infinite and 5 didn’t launch with forge or splitscreen campaign, though 5 never got splitscreen at all because it couldn’t support it by design. 5 however did launch with co-op.

as for progression, its a matter of preference because they’re both bad. all of halo 5’s progression was tied to random lootboxes, which could be bought. also worthy to note that the most expensive lootboxes contained rare “REQ cards” that gave you overpowered weapon variants in warzone, essentially adding a facet of pay to win.

Put it this way. I load up Halo 5 on launch.

I have things to do. There’s ranked playlists for me. There salso other experiences. Even co op.

I load up Halo infinite. I don’t even get skins for playing.
No modes. No ranked modes. Barely anything to do

Pretty obvious which launch is better

I’d say they were about the same then, with Halo 5 being marginally better than Infinite, especially considering the bugs in Infinite and other modes in Halo 5.

As an incentive for people to upgrade to Windows 10, they did bring Halo 5 to PC in the form of Forge and Custom games. But much like when they incentivized downloading Vista to play Halo 2 on PC, the game was just optimized poorly and didn’t really play all that well.

Personally I felt like Halo 5 played better as a PC title then an Xbox title, but being one of the lucky one’s who could actually run it, it wasn’t going anywhere with a continued lack of support.

Short of an MCC like team to bring it to PC, Halo 5 needs a lot of work before it would be enjoyably and comfortably played on PC.

This will typically be the answer for most games that fit that bill. Games need to be accessible to all players, if they aren’t then players will seek out a better experience.

forgot to mention halo 5 also launched with less modes than what infinite has right now.

it was just warzone, warzone assault, slayer, strongholds, CTF, breakout and SWAT.

That’s about the same, but with more variety actually for Halo 5.

Woah woah woah. How is that LESS. That’s MORE.

Everything we got now isn’t even ranked. We had ranked playlists like FFA and Swat.

infinite has big team slayer, big team stockpile, CTF, oddball, strongholds (+total control BTB variant), arena slayer, SWAT and fiesta. 5 did have more playlists though… I think?

Right now, Infinite has:

  • Kill the enemy team (Slayer and its variants).
  • Hold a zone (Strongholds and Total Control).
  • Hold a ball (Oddball).
  • Take a flag (Capture the Flag).
  • Take batteries (Stockpile).

Halo 5 had:

  • Kill the enemy team (Slayer and its variants)
  • Hold a zone (Strongholds).
  • Take a flag (Capture the Flag and its variant).
  • Kill the enemy team and AI bosses, and take bases (Warzone).

So, it did have more modes, but I think I’d rather have had Warzone than Stockpile.

The thing is your talking about basic modes. The modes your talking about are just setting changes .

Warzone and breakout have, maps and modes dedicated to them.

Isn’t that just Neutral Flag with one life?

By the way, why isn’t “Lives” a setting in custom games?
Hasn’t it been in every other Halo?

Yeah. A speical game mode was created for it. So it can incudle rounds and screen animations. It was much more than just a game mode. It was suppose to be the new HCS offering but it ended up not working out as something you can watch. You also had little health. The pistol did 3 shots to the head instead of 5

I’m not sure why they would even add a flag to that.
It should have been Oddball.

It was to push the other team out of hiding.

Hey man I agree with a ton of your points, but I’m just gonna be real… what you’re describing is not realistic. I wish Halo 5 would be on PC too so we can have every game on here. But like… Infinite is a NEW game. It’s not feasible to just make Infinite “be” 5 because they wanted to create a new experience and return to series roots. All respect though my man

I just expected the new game to have what Halo 5 has and MORE. Now we’re starting all over again. The same features that’s already in halo 5 will take months to years to bring to infinite

That makes sense.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous to not have what’s already been in previous games in the series included in the next game.
