Why didn't they just release Halo 5 in full on the PC and expand from there?

The new story doesn’t have to be apart of Halo 5 tho. It could be its own download with its own name but when you click multiplayer you get sent to Halo 5s.

I would definitely take a look back at the game especially in 4k. It’s not as old as some people make.it out to be.

Again. All you said was.

It’s your opinion that my route would’ve failed.

The launch is already objectively worse than Halo 5s aside from the campagin. So your main point is

New game. New hype. Better game?

I still don’t see it. As a Halo fan I don’t want to go thru updates for another 4 years again like we did in halo 5. That’s almost half of their 10 year plan.

All I keep hearing is

“I’m happy waiting for another few years for features we already have in other games”

That’s all I see.

Why would 343 spend all of their time to make Infinite’s campaign gameplay only to have its multiplayer be H5’s? Infinite’s multiplayer has arguably garnered more attention from the general gaming public than H5 did. I like having a new multiplayer every so often as each one plays differently. Again, I could argue: Why wasn’t H5 an expansion for H4, with the multiplayer being that of H4’s? Because multiplayer is different for each game, it’s either iterated upon or a different multiplayer experience.

H5 had a great multiplayer, but with Infinite being a spiritual reboot, it was clear that multiplayer was returning to a more classic rather than twitch-shooter multiplayer.

Mmmmm I wonder why. Maybe because it was markted to be on PC. Maybe it’s because it was marketed as free multiplayer. Mmmmm. I wonder why it garnered more attention .lol

Ok return to more classic you say. But you can turn off the ablities so what do you mean return to clasic? We already had the option.

Halo 5 has new things in it compared to Halo 4. Halo infinite doesn’t have anything except pickups were which weren’t apart of the spartan so putting them in the game would be like putting another weapon in. It wouldn’t have required a total rework of how the spartan movement worked like from Halo 4 to 5

Halo infnites campgain could’ve been Halo 5s gameplay with the ablities turned off and grapples added and the reason would be to what we have in the rest of the multiplayer as well

Yes release the game on pc

No do not expand on it to the point where we don’t get a new game.

I wanted a new game that returned to the old halo art style and brought things back to be more similar to how Halo used to be without out the sprint settings of 5, the default thrusters, the groundslams and all this ridiculous nonsense.

For the most part I got what I wanted with infinite, and I’m excited to see where the game goes from here. While I prefer the old model of having fully released games every few years, the reality is that more and more games are going to shift to live services unfortunately.
I like Infinite as a starting point much more than I did Halo 5. I’ve played this game more than Halo 5 already because Halo 5 was not a Halo game in my eyes.

Infinite is what I wanted as a halo fan and I’m glad fans like me who have grown up on the franchise since CE are finally being listened too and not having the franchise we love being bastardardized like it was in 4 and 5

You could turn off the abilities in customs, but in multiplayer they were on. They only time abilities in H5 were turned off was for the CE anniversary playlist, which was a rotating playlist. Meaning that most of the time H5’s matchmade multiplayer had Spartan abilities that fundamentally changed the gameplay of Halo.

Crouch jumping? Didn’t need that skill anymore because all of the jumps in H5 needed clamber. Dodgeable weapons? Gown because every weapon had insane aim assist due to the increased player movement. Vehicles? While still a viable option, you’d often be an open target for players who were harder to target and kill due to thruster and aim assisted weapons.

Infinite’s sandbox is fundamentally different from H5’s. That’s part of the reason new Halo games are made, because the game plays differently from the last one. Aim assist has been severely toned down and although hitscan is still present, you can strafe weapon fire unlike H5.

Infinite is a sequel to H5, like 5 was to 4 and so on. Sequels have improvements under the hood that only developers are going to know about. Improvements that unfortunately for Infinite hold it back due to it being on the base 2013 Xbox One. No matter how you spin it, H5 could not have been a platform for Infinite’s campaign. They would have spent time trying to do that, only to realize the scope of the game would require a new engine. Plus, having the same multiplayer would have been lazy and would be rightfully lambasted bu the community. There are expectations that new Halos offer us a new campaign and multiplayer. Having a multiplayer from 2015 in 2021 for a new release would not attract new players.

And Infinite has nothing new in it? Have you seen the new enemy types? The revamped vehicle destruction mechanic? Different movement? Etc… Just because a game doesn’t have armor abilities doesn’t mean it has nothing new in it. Again, infinite has returned to the sandbox aspect of older Halos rather than continuing the idea of making the gameplay revolve around what cool abilities the player has.

So the artstyle is all your saying because those abilites. Again. Can be turned off. Do people just not know the you can turn them off in halo 5?

As a Halo fan this is the least of what I wanted and I’ve been playing Halo for over 15 years. I simply don’t see what you see when Halo 5s starting point had far more options and modes AND classic weapons. Day one of Halo 5 you were able to turn off all the abilites and make classic. Why no one took advantage of that. I’ll never know but it really seems like the looks and it being a new game within itself is the only reason why Halo infinite exsists

Saying those abilities can be turned off is disingenuous because they were the default setting for multiplayer and prevented me from being able to enjoy the multiplayer as a whole because I do not want to exclusively play with people I know in custom games.

More is not always better. It’s like the appearance of somebody who eats too much. Maybe if they cut back on the burgers they’ll look a little nicer.

I’m sorry that Infinite isn’t what you wanted from Halo, but it is what a large portion of the fans wanted. You can tell just by looking at the user reviews on Metacritic, with H5 having a 6.4 to Infinite’s 8.5. Not only that, but just look around on the internet and you’ll see everyone taking about how much they like Infinite’s gameplay.

Again, H5 is a good game with great mechanics. But to a lot of the fanbase, it simply wasn’t Halo feeling. A problem that 343 has corrected with Infinite’s gameplay.

For the PC players that didn’t get to experience Halo 5: Guardians but would like to - I feel for them.

But I do not agree that the foundation of the future of Halo should been based within Halo 5: Guardians and built from there.

I think Halo Infinite does the best it can with what it has and what 343i’s goals are. Sure it could have been executed better in some ways, but it ultimately hits the same goal that they have already achieved with this game in the first place.

You didn’t really explain anything. If anything Halo 5 should’ve had a permanent classic playlists and it doesn’t matter if it was the default but it was designed so that you COULD remove it. So again. Don’t see ur point. If I load up Halo 5 forge and take out the abilites and give myself the Halo 2 br I struggle to find a difference. In fact Halo 5 feels cleaner

Except you’re being disingenuous again. He said he didn’t want to have to play custom games just to be able to have a more classic experience, and you’re telling him to go into customs and turn off abilities. Maps were also not made for Spartans with no abilities as again, the maps were made to accommodate those abilities. Without them, traversing maps takes longer, reaching different elevations cannot occur due to crouch jumping not working with the maps, and destructible parts of the maps require you to melee instead of Spartan charging or ground pounding. So yes, it does matter that Spartan abilities were on by default.

Halo 5 with no player abilities plays considerably different from default matchmaking. There’s no dash to startle insane aim assist or to aid you with slide jumping. There’s no Spartan charge for insta kills from behind or to help you gain some distance. The list goes on.

As for saying Halo 5 feels cleaner, that is completely subjective and depends on each person.

Every time someone gives you reasons for their thoughts, you either ignore them or outright say that someone isn’t explaining their ideas. And by explaining I mean that you’re obviously trying to get someone to explain to you in a way that conforms with your preconceived ideas about the game. So no matter what anyone says, you’re not going to listen to them.

What do you mean go to customs? I’m saying there should have been a permanent classic playlist. And you say without the abilites Halo 5 maps wouldn’t work. They would. I already tested it. You can reach every spot because you still have clamber. And on top of that you can make Halo infinite maps in halo 5 forge.

So how exactly how am being disingenuous when it quite literally works. Have you even tried it to compare how it feels?

Clamber is a part of enhanced mobility, and was not present in any game until H5. If you were to get rid of all enhanced mobility, including clamber, then the maps wouldn’t work as intended. And I guess you missed everything else I said about H5’s maps because you only talked about clamber.

As for making maps in forge, yes that’s a great feature. The caveat is that you need people to play on them. The customs browser helps alleviate it, but you still need to depend on other people joining your game.

The disingenuous part of my post relates to how you stated that you can just remove armor abilities in customs. Except that the person you were replying to was talking about matchmade games in multiplayer. Not customs, but the default matchmaking experience. Not everyone plays customs, and to have customs solely be the way to experience classic gameplay isn’t a solution to the problem.

so what you are saying is

they should have just added 5 and infinite to mcc.

and i agree.

Were you even aware that a classic playlist was already made? A halo 3 one to be specific. It worked. It was a great playlist.

What maps are you talking about that wouldn’t work without the abilites ? Because I’m suggesting is making a dedicated playlist with dedicated maps to the gameplay. I’ve already done this.

Pretty much yes. I don’t see why an entirely new game was needed when they could just made the same exact content but attached to to Halo 5

I literally stated that the classic playlist wasn’t permanent, so yes I know of it’s existence. Except you’re forgetting that the community designed maps with forge for the playlist, maps that came from H3. So yes the maps worked because the maps were made with H3’s movement in mind. And for H5 maps, any map that had a jump that clamber was required doesn’t work as intended. Just like how war zone maps have destructive walls that are one hit with charge or ground pound, but take substantially longer with only melee hits.

And again, Infinite’s sandbox is different from H5’s. I don’t understand how you cannot grasp the concept of sequels. Sequels play differently from the previous game and are made to make money. File sizes can only get so big before people are being forced to have Halo exclusive on their gaming machines. MCC isn’t a new game, it’s a collection of older games, and adding more to it is bound to create problems that will take quite a while to resolve. 343 stated that when talking about not porting H5 and HW2 to steam/pc.

Yes I want H5 on pc, n but I don’t want it and infinite added to MCC. I don’t want to have to wait months for 343 to fix more problems in MCC when they can be their own pc standalone releases.

To try to make my point clear as possible had 343 used Halo 5 as a base they could have built from scratch dev maps for the would be ifinite playlist. I’m not saying just turn off the ablities. I’m saying being able to turn them off is a good starting point, then they could’ve released maps for the updated playlist and even added all the new weapons that is within infinite.

So then we have a fundamental problem. The way Halo 5 is now. Is the way it should’ve released when it launched. I want to go PAST where we are in halo 5. Not backwards and starting over. I should be able to click warzone, breakout, btb, all the ranked playlists. Infection. Those things should be the base level. So if your telling me that space is an issue then I guess I’ll never have the game I want because I truly expected at least custom games browser at launch. That feature is HUGE. And it’s just sitting unused in halo 5 forge because it doesn’t have matchmaking.

That is still a lie, no matter how often you repeat it…
