It just seems weird the slipspace portal was right there.
Wouldn’t that just give control of the Ark over to the Banished?

At this point its only resources they can gather cause it will take a good amount of time to make another Halo.

They still have more control over it. Which would be bad because if they somehow got another human then the banished would be able to activate and fire halo rings considering that would have control over all of them. That’s if Cortana would allow any of that to even happen, of course.

There is more to the Ark than just resources, it’s a treasure trove of Forerunner technology that would be highly dangerous in the hands of a group like The Banished.

Not only that but it has a lot of unlimited energy and has factories the banished could use to create their own forerunner weapons and even possibly a ship
Actually now that I think about it…what would it matter if the Spirit bugged off and just let The Banished got a bunch of weapons from the Ark? The second they came steaming back into the Milky Way they’d just get nerfed by the Guardians like everything else. :\

Probably

Hmm i wasn’t aware that the Ark could build these things it could prove to be troublesome.

I’m really just guessing. But considering the ark can make halos and was also designed as a shelter and if you had access to control forerunner tech you could modify or change production. There’s probably a archive containing important information like slipspace drive info
As said, it would leave the Ark in control of the Banished.
I have a feeling it was written that way so the campaign DLC will only take place on the Ark. We likely won’t know the fate of Anders and the Halo till Halo 6.
Also, everything was happening so fast, perhaps the SoF could not have made it into the portal in time if they tried anyway?

remote control of other Halo’s?
The Banished is supposed to be clever. Atriox wouldn’t use the Halos even if he wanted to. The main threat is just the matter of leaving such a danger unchecked for too long, until they managed to return to the galaxy and bring a lot of destruction and power. (The Phoenix logs mention the Ark being part 1 of a greater plan Atriox has). Thus, the Spirit of Fire is now in charge of handling that threat until Anders can return with reinforcements. If there are any, at this point.

On and near the Ark, at least. I think I remembered reading somewhere in the Phoenix logs that the SOF’s condors can perform long range reconnaissance in space around the Ark. Why else they would if there’s nothing but the Ark to worry about, no idea.
I’m not quite sure how the campaign DLC will work either. It seems to me the next several months is just going to be constant battles - most likely represented by the multiplayer.

Wasn’t that disabled in Halo 3?

Why would the SoF want to leave a hostile force on the Ark? They took out their ship and split their ground forces so now its clean up time.

Chief just stopped them from firing after Truth/Johnson started it. I dont think it’s ever mentioned it ended remote control.
They had teams still on the Ark and the Halo. They wouldn’t leave them behind, along with Atriox still at large within the Ark.

I think you’re right. Given how much Halo Wars 2 stressed not bringing in a lot of the wider universe to keep the story self-contained for new players, I can’t see them throwing in the Created as post-game DLC. Which is fine for me, because my main gripes with the game’s story relate to a lack of time for the Atriox v. Cutter stuff, so more DLC hitting on that would be welcome.

They could have a Forerunner faction, at least. With sentinel and Promethean units. We know that there are at least armigers(of which, Promethean Soldiers are a type of) are on the Ark.

It’d definitely be nice. I dunno if it will happen. A Forerunner faction would mean leaders which would mean (probably) an actual Created presence on the Ark, unless they used “quasi-canon” leaders like 343GS or Tragic Solitude. Either way adding another faction is a lot of work, so I can’t imagine we’ll see it, unfortunately.
