I just want a simple answer. It’d popular and fun. Why get rid of such a feature? It’ll only do harm.
its not gone completely just doesn’t have its own playlist i think there putting it in the spartan ops section
Seems like it’s being replaced with somewhat story-driven, 4-player coop missions. They seem to have plans to release 5 new missions per week for a few months after release; which in the end should result in more varieties of gameplay for online coop than firefight could offer.
Edit to add: I think they know there’s a good amount of people who really enjoy firefight. Either for its challenge, or because it’s relatively peaceful and predictable; so I’d expect 1 of the 5 missions they release each week to be a “kill all the waves of enemies” kind of mission, like traditional firefight, so those players will still find something familiar to enjoy.
I’m pretty sure one of the Spartan Ops missions will feature some kind of survival mode-style gameplay. Think “Lone Wolf” from Halo: Reach.
Honestly, we don’t even know if Spartan ops is just individually made multiplayer maps made specially for S-OPs. For all we know, we could even make our own, though that is probably unlikely.
It’s not gone its just not on the main menu anymore it’s probably a mission type in spartan ops
Just like how firefight versus is under the firefight menu

That would kick all kinds of -Yoink- if we could design our own mission-based maps. That would require them making a fairly clever AI engine so they would still be able to function appropriately on new maps, so I’m not sure if that’ll happen.
Firefight is not very popular and firefight 2.0 is very bad compared to 1.0. They replaced it with Spartan Ops which for the record sounds like much more fun than firefight.
It is sad that firefight is gone, it got boring quickly though.
But don’t worry we still get something better Spartan Ops, suppose to be punch off co-op missions etc etc.
I guess you guys are right, as 343 said they have no plans to make a “dedicated” firefight mode.
Bungie, still owns some of the names, so they cant use firefight

They want to try something new and refreshing,(Replacement) Spartan Ops seems promising, Im sure 343i has something in the bag for all of their fans.

Halo 5 maybe? lol…

Indeed it would, as it was something I was asking of firefight in the past. If we could do that, I would never get sick of Halo again.

This could well be true.
What they are doing is basically evolving FireFight into something bigger. I know it won’t be called FireFight and it won’t consist of purely holding out against waves but the same principles and characteristics will be see and able to play in Spartan Ops.
Because 343i are liars, from the 3.07.12 bulletin:
'Q: With all the care being put into improving and pushing the Multiplayer and single-player experiences forward, will the same care be put into features such as Forge and Theater? What are your goals for improving community content in Halo 4? –AtlasIsShruggin
A: We will do our best not to disappoint fans of the existing Halo feature set.'
The existing set of features includes firefight, and 343i have taken it out. How can we trust them? H4 may not even be real, it could be one massive trolling exercise.

its not gone just moved to spartan ops

No, Bungie doesn’t own anything from Halo.
Cuz firefight was boring and took no skill
