Well, hello people!
So I know there’s a couple of topics out there that ask you what your favorite armor combo is, but I’m curious to know why you believe that combo is the best for you. Post your combo if you wish but give reasons why you consider it to be the best. Or if it’s not the best or your favorite then just state your reason for choosing that specific set. Is it for looks, based off someone/something, want to show off, what?
Unfortunately, I’m one who constantly changes my armor, but as of now I use full PRIME because I’m a fan of the Recruit armor but don’t like the color placement on the standard variant. Why do I like Recruit armor? Because it’s the most simple, human, and Halo-like out of all the other armors IMO.
I think that about sums it up. What about you guys/girls?
I change my armor a ton in Reach, usually settling for Hazop or Gungnir variants, and that habit got worse in Halo 4 with the sheer abundance of combinations ^^
Why I choose certain armors… Usually depends on my mood. Maybe I want to try something different (Infiltrator, Scanner, Defender) or maybe there’s a certain combo I like the looks of (Venator + Believe stance), or I just feel like doing a bit of roleplaying in Customs or SpartanOps and will suit my spartan up to match what I want to achieve.
Right now I’m using Infiltrator/Orbital and an asymmetric shoulder combo, but plan on going Gungnir once I unlock it before returning to ODST - I just find the ODSTs to be completley awesome~
My choices of armor is mostly driven by how i see the armor actually being functional. So, i dont really like any over-the-top designs and just silly ones. I prefer the simple, super-soldier like designs.
Well, I can give you an entire lecture on my armor, but I’ve always loved the Recon since Halo 3. The armor itself, is not only my favorite, but it somewhat describes what kind of a player I am, in terms of play style and personality. Not to mention, the design of the armor, especially in Halo 4 (which I hope the design of it returns in the next title), has that “sleek, silent, but deadly” look, which goes with the armor perfectly.
Helmet: Venator Raptor. I am a good assassin.
Torso: Wetwork Shard. Goes well with Venator.
Left shoulder: Rogue. Like it.
Right shoulder: Rogue Focus. Diferent skin just because.
Arms: Contoured Shard. Use them just to brag.
Legs: Fotus. Aside from the brag, they go perfect with the rest of the armor.
Originally, the recon helmet I wore always made me feel like a reconnaissance unit in the group. Go scout the area ahead and report back. It was simple and I liked it.
Except now, I’m full Rogue. Which I’ve yet to give a meaning.
Most of my armor pieces come from various packs and bundles I’ve purchased (Limited Edition, Champions Bundle, etc.) or sets that I earned (C.I.O., Legendary Visor, Raider DSTT). I want to make the most of my money and effort.
I usually rock full CIO with Mk.V arms (because they look better than innerplated, while still being true to the “default” CIO design) and over-locking legs.
I wear this be because I “headcanon” my spartan as an ONI “spook” inducted into the spartan IV’s and CIO seemed a natural fit for a spy turned soldier. It also matches my chatty teamplayer playstyle with its focus on Intel conveyance.
Halo 4 doesn’t really make the srmour “large and intimidating”, but Halo Reach did. If 343 made some more specializations for the people who like feeling powerful and intimidating, then I think that would be good.

Anyways, I’m a lot like you, Xindus, changing my armour constantly, just trying to find that one that I like the most, but I’ve found one that I like:(From helmet down) Rec Prime, Defender CTRL, CIO Web (both shoulders), XV-27 SLID (makes it look like the robotic arms from Reach), Over-Locking WEB, Legendary, and then Maroon and Steel for the colours.
Helmet: Mark VI. Because pseudo-nostalgia.
Chest: Prefect. Because Forerunners.
Left shoulder: Vanguard. After completing Promethean Destroyer commendation, it never came off (all those Crawler Snipes…)
Right Shoulder: Rogue FOCUS. It’s the most protective/covering armor I’ve found.
Forearms: Prefect.
Legs: Prefect.
Visor: Legendary. No explanation needed here.
Xindus, your armor is displaying as an entirely different set (with Deadeye helmet and Soldier chest) than you mentioned. What’s “SA”?
As for my armor, I hate to say but I make changes to my setup a lot. I prefer wearing all pieces from a particular armor set, but Frankie answered one of my questions in a Bulletin and confirmed that Spartans do indeed, utilize pieces from different sets in official Halo canon. War Games is canon, anyways.
I setup my armor with these ideas in mind:
Make Spartan look aesthetically pleasing.
Reflect personal playstyle, ability, and personality.
Show off accomplishments, unlocks, and other pieces such as unique armor (ex. Oceanic CRCT armor).
I stuck with a full Recruit and Recruit PRME set in the first few months as they were placeholders before I could find and stick with a set. About a year later, I am now rocking full Warrior.
