Why did you change grifball?

In case anyone is wondering I am taking about this

Polygon just put this up and I was wondering why they Ball does not do a mega explosion and restart the round? This what made every round of Grifball new and fresh, It is so easy to get spawn trapped by this, you don’t even know. It made the matches go a lot fast and my the first push at the start of each round important. Now there is only time in a whole match for that initial dog fight to happen. I don’t understand this change at all.

Edit: 02/26/16
Like I thought what was going to happen has

Link It has already started and it hasn’t even been 4 days

I feel like we should spread awareness of how often this will happen because this can’t be the only video out there about this happening

PS: thank you Richnj for letting me use that video you recorded

It’s been like this since Halo 4.

Was thinking the same thing…

Idk how I feel about it overall, I have mixed feelings… will have to just play it myself to find out

like I was ok with it until it reached that one spot of the bomb not doing a mega detonation and ending the round. I think everything else is fine and the ball looks great, but that one part, I am not a fan of at all

And it has so many problems that could easily be fix if it went back to normal. There are so many problems with the way halo 4 did grifball. I would rather have a small 2 minutes of getting spawn killed then 10+ minutes of the possibility.

the OBVIOUS answer is, grifball is no longer a round based gametype? because it slows down the gamemode? and that is why they changed it? stop and go, is a lot more boring then continuous play. can you imagine how boring basketball would be if after every score… they had to do the jump ball again?

With the implementation of scripting you will be able to cause an explosion in a map of your own and thus making it like it was back in H3 and Reach.

As getatme wrote, H4 and later titles is far more fast pased, but going back to my text above, it’s easy to fix that in forge. It might not be implemented into matchmaking but you can still have the old fun i customs.

I disagree. Sometimes certain game modes are better off with round resets. Breakout is one and I think grifball should reset rounds too.

You make’a no sense. Soccer, American football, rugby, ice hockey… I could go on. They changed the game from its origins… reset didn’t slow down -Yoink-, same way it doesn’t in break out.

Rush, Bomb, sword, hammer… do you even grifball?

The gameplay still looks fun.

Meh, Halo 4’s MP didn’t stick with me. Only played it for a few months. Never made it to Grifball in Halo 4 lol.

Uhh what? Halo 4 grifball was the best thing ever?

I loved the throwing aspect, I loved the ‘x’ score till victory, instead of the 1 score rounds… This looks amazing, no idea why you are complaining.

Are people lost into the sauce, it was round based In halo 4 as well with a reset after a detonation goal. could find link and show you right up.Only tactic to this halo 5 version is, get as many kills.

Took it out probably because of the spawn trapping you mentioned it created.

This was grifball pro not standard grifball, this was probably made to appease the H3 peeps who didnt like the changes.

Turn based Grifball is better, hopefully there is classic gametype in MM.

Looks fine to me. We’ll have to play it to find out though. This entire thread is just speculation.

geez…

nothing is sacred anymore people

this is just MM grifball, go make custom games when you get the options if you want to live in 2008

Yes it was, but people tend to forget since this is Waypoint.

What do you mean speculation? There is video linked by the OP and this how grifball was in Halo 4 which was IMO not that great.
