Why did this not get announced as Halo 5?

I mean the new Halo is not a reboot.
It obviously takes place after Halo 4.
So why not call this Halo 5?
Maybe this will be a half game like Halo 3: ODST.
Maybe 343i wants to make a game called Halo without the secondary title Combat Evolved.

Who knows. I’m 99% positive that this should and hopefully will be called Halo 5. But also I hope they don’t go with Halo One or Halo Xbox One to be spiteful to the fans asking about the full title.

Whatever it is called please let this be a good game. Please 343i do your best to make this a great game for the new generation of Xbox consoles. Don’t just make a game that is targeted at a certain demographic or audience. Make a game that will be good for everyone. In short, work on this like you did on Halo 4 (before hiring people to work on the game who hated halo, and also slaking off on the MP and admitting to it on twitter a little over a year after the game’s release.)

I’m pretty sure Halo 4 taught them a lesson of what NOT to do from since then. I also seem to remember them confirming that it is a sequel to Halo 4, and the teaser trailer originally had ‘HALO 5’ in big bold letters at the end. We’re not stupid, we know it is Halo 5, so what’s with the suspense? I agree, they should just call it Halo 5, and get it over and done with already! angry face

Because what we saw was just 343’s way of confirming that there will be a Halo on the X1. It wasn’t necessarily a game trailer.

It probably won’t be halo 5 and they said that they haven’t thought up a name for it

I don’t really mind what it’s going to be called, provided it’s going to be a good game, I’ll be happy

> Because what we saw was just 343’s way of confirming that there will be a Halo on the X1. It wasn’t necessarily a game trailer.

There is pretty clearly a story to that trailer that relates directly to the game; 343i has acknowledged this multiple times. So that trailer was for the game, we know some small details about said game. And they were originally going to just call it Halo 5 anyway so what’s with the secrecy?

Well a name for Halo… hmmm?

  • Halo: The Fellowship Of The Ring… The Fellowship Of The AI/Cortana

  • (Halo: Reach - Noble Team, on Reach. [Fellowship])

  • (Halo: Combat Evolved - Master Chief and Cortana, on Installation 04A. [Sam And Frodo])

  • Halo: The Two Towers… The Two Covenants

  • (Halo 2 - Great Schism, Loyalists and Separatists, on High Charity. [Orthance and Barad’Dur])

  • Halo: The Return Of The King… The Return Of The Chief

  • (Halo 3 - Master Chief, on Earth. [Aragorn survives falling])

  • Halo: An Unexpected Journey… An Unexpected Enemy

  • (Halo 4 - Master Chief and Cortana, on Requiem. [The Necromancer]

  • Halo: The Desolation Of Smaug… The Desolation Of The Flood

  • (Halo 5 - ?)

  • Halo: There And Back Again… Finish The Fight Again

  • (Halo 6 - ?)

LOLZ

Anyway if Halo Xbox One is a Halo 4.5, or bridging title, the next Halo game could be called something like Halo: Reclamation… Halo: Mantle Of Responsibility… but most likely it will be Halo 5.

I don’t think it’s going to be Halo 5. It wouldn’t surprise me but I believe that if it was Halo 5 that we would have known right from the start.

They said that Halo is a saga now not just a triogy. There could be 1 or 2 Halo games before Halo 5 comes out and then the same between Halo 5 and 6.

I’m willing to bet that they will all be sequels and they will all be “true” Halo games that run at 60fps and with dedicated servers.

MS and 343i plan on broadening the scope and grandeur of Halo.

As such, the old Reclaimer trilogy has been expanded.

Numbering conventions do not make sense if you are planning many other games to further the story.

I believe that is why they have not committed to calling in Halo 5.

Although James Bond fans call Skyfall, Bond 23, the former name represents the proper title.

I think this guy sums up How I feel About Halo XB1, and what should be called

I hope this indicates that we have a (streamlined) Reach-like experience.

If this is Reach 2.0, bring back everything that was incredible about it.

I interpreted the trailer as a teaser for the continuation of the franchise as a whole on the Xbox One. It basically said that they will be continuing the Halo saga on Xbox One and it will continue from where Halo 4 left off. I considered it a trailer for Halo 5, Halo 6, and whatever else is coming.

> It probably won’t be halo 5 and they said that they haven’t thought up a name for it

There’s far more proof that it is Halo 5 than there is that it’s not. Frankie has pretty much all but confirmed it on GAF during topics regarding it.

That being said, the trailer was a trailer regarding Halo in general. Stating that fans shouldnt have to worry that the 360 is the last system we’ll see Halo on. Redudant of course because it was announced as a part of a trilogy (now saga) so it’s not like people expected it to suddenly disappear a year after Halo 4 or anything. But whatever. We’ll know soon enough (hopefully.)

A name like Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo: Reach is much cooler when compared to a number.

We don’t need numbers to understand that a game takes place chronologically after the last one.

Look no further than a Halo-themed story like RvB. “Blood Gulch Chronicles”, “Recovery One”, Revelation… the number is always there. It’s a given. Can’t hurt to be just a smidge creative and give us a memorable title, too.

My theory is that since it’s January 2014 and the game isn’t titled Halo 5 yet, that it won’t be titled Halo 5 at all.

It’s releasing this year, right? So why not slap the obvious 5 on the next big installment? Because it isn’t Halo 5. It has the Chief and it’s a main title, but it (they) may not have a number anymore.

I’m 99% sure it’s 5. You can even see a Halo font style 5 in the clouds at the end of the teaser.

Like the first game, CE.

actually, a few days ago, i came to the thought, that they could handle it with the next Halo like the Metal Gear Solid-Series is doing right now with Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain. Very, very, unlikely, but i wouldn’t wonder if “Halo Xbox One” is just another Step before the “real” next Chapter in the new Halo-Trilogy is going to be released. I doubt it myself, but i would laugh if they would make it like this or similarly.

I think “Halo: Parthenon” (inspired by that concept art) would be kick-rear-end and fitting for an open world adventure.
