Why did they make the thruster pack useless?

I think they are missing the point.

Sword lunges should NOT be greater than the distance of the thrust, if you can’t evade a sword lunge with a thruster boost then what’s the point amirite?

How many times does it have to be told you that it has its uses? What’s embarrassing is you ignoring my statements. I specifically told you what was useful and what wasn’t. I even mentioned that I do use it and I get wins with it.

Doesn’t mean that the thruster isn’t limited or static.

Watch pro gameplay and learn? Lmao people learn from me. Not the other way around. I wasn’t champion in FFA every single month for nothing. Come back to me when you become number one in something. I know i did.

I know how the thruster works. I’ve been playing with it for 6 years. Which is why I made this post because I notice the drastic changes the thruster went thru. The changes you refuse to acknowledge.

Exactly. I’m starting to see a trend here. Whenever you post something that people don’t agree with they want to attack every angle except the exact points your making. I’m making simple straight forward points and they are trying to undermine it by talking about something else

Uh, adapt I guess. Y’know?

Happens to me on the regular dude.

If someone thrusts behind me and I connect my melee lunge and kill him anyways how is that adapting?

I shouldn’t be able to do that. Just like I shouldn’t be phasing through players.

OP… … … you clearly didn’t play Halo 4 where the Thruster Pack was TRULY useless.

The Halo Infinite Thruster Pack is something that further makes whoever has the Sword in the match THE KING OF THE ARENA because they can close the gap and sword-lunge you in nearly an instant.

Meanwhile, the Thruster Pack of Halo 4 was “use this against the Hunters to avoid their shields and get behind them”. Oddly enough, the A.I. design team made it so melee-attacks are near instant in Halo 4, resulting in the Thruster Pack being useless in PvE.

In PvP however… it was still useless as you were taken into a third-person animation of your Spartan jumping in the direction of the thrust… at the same speed of a Spartan walking so it was a moot point and a hard downgrade compared to Halo Reach’s Evade ability.

And as for Halo 5? The thruster pack was just about the same.

It’s a nice movement tool. Can’t say it’s been a determining factor in many instances, but it’s a nice piece of equipment to have when you have nothing to begin with.

Closing gaps, fakeouts, clearing jumps, like I said it’s not great, but it definitely has its moments. I’d rather have a thruster pack than a repulsor or drop shield than nothing at all.

Halo 4 multiplayer sucked. No need to even mention that. Halo 5s thurst is different than 4 so idk what the point is here

Having it as default is better. But you know. No one likes fun so

I meant to say that Halo 5’s Thrusters are very much the same in terms of speed and distance as Halo Infinite’s.

The real problem I have with the Thrusters and Grapples of Infinite is the fact that now our Spartans move faster on foot than any other Halo game… and yet the radar was shrunk down to 18 meters.

Halo 5 made the thrusters a default tool… and EXTENDED the radar by 5 meters in PvP (making it 30 meters) and in campaign it as 40-50 Meters (depending on if you were playing as Tanaka)

Absolutely not. Everything about it is fundamentallly different. The speed AND distance is different. Especially because of the animation at the end.

Nah better not to have it as a default. It’s a nice piece to have in your back pocket, but it would be annoying if everyone just started out with it.

It’s much more fun to close the gap on someone with it knowing they can’t escape.

What’s annoying about it? The fact that you have to be on your toes all the time? I mean. It’s a combat simulator. Isn’t it suppose to be difficult and competitive?

It’s much more fun closing the gap on someone knowing I outplayed them WHILE they have their own thruster. That’s far more rewarding.

It’s pretty clear that you like having advantages for the sake of having advantages. This isn’t skill nor fun.

Thruster pack is fine. You prob putting yourself into situations you are gonna get slapped regardless.

Yet another one that ignores the points made above. Yeah it’s “fine” as in. Its something you can use. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t been butchered. It clearly has. It doesn’t have as many uses as before

Only thing I’d change is carrying more momentum after the thrust. Seems like now you just thrust and kinda… slow down immediately lol. Its still a viable option, but sprint-slide-thrust -jumping around the map was great in H5. It was just a bit too much when EVERYONE had it.

The issue with EVERYONE having Thruster Packs is that it diminishes some other aspect of the weapons sandbox. Now that 343 is copying Call of Duty with the fact that sniper-weapons are now single-zoom and they ALL have a lens-flare effect when you ADS; someone with a Thruster Pack can easily boost out of the way and behind cover because they saw you scope in from afar.

It made sniping TERRIBLE in Halo 5 Guardians. In Halo Infinite, by making it a pickup; you now have people going to a designated spot to pick up something that will give them an advantage AND now snipers have a descant chance of hitting a target that is only walking sideways to the cover rather than a booster to the side. Plus with a Thruster Pack, you can bait and avoid a splatter, increasing the item’s value. In Halo 5, splatters are hard to get. Now in Halo Infinite, it is far more balanced to allow vehicular and sniper combat a bit less of an annoying headache.

I haven’t missed anything. This is Halo infinite. Not halo 5. There isn’t anything wrong with it. Use it properly. It’s just that simple. Crying over nothing here, and want people to side with you so badly.

That was the fun tho. When everyone had it. It was so satisfying pulling off moves WHILE in battle and the other person is doing the same. A lot of fast hiking. It felt like how a spratan was suppose to move. You know. Fast and agile
